Davante Adams started his journey with the Las Vegas Raiders in March 2022 after getting traded by the Green Bay Packers in exchange for the first – as well as second – round selections in that year’s draft. Since then, the wide receiver has been magnificently carrying on his responsibilities on the offensive side.
Nevertheless, Adams’ recent dispute with the Raiders has been strong enough to let fans think about his potential trade ahead of the NFL trade deadline. However, the veteran is not done with the franchise and wants to stay in Las Vegas for more time, despite expecting to meet his former teammate and current New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers.
Davante Adams sparks rumors of a reunion with Rodgers
Dvante Adams and Aaron Rodgers had played together for almost a decade with the Green Bay Packers. Now, one is with the Raiders and another one is with the Jets. However, during a recent appearance on “The Rich Eisen Show” this week, the WR said while distance could result in a torn-out relationship between them, instead, their bond got stronger than before.
“Ever since we haven’t been teammates, our relationship has gotten stronger. We try to keep a pretty good line of communication, just because we both obviously miss each other a lot,” he said via NBC Sports.
The vet is not wrong at all as most recently A-Rod has even called the Raiders team for not handling Adams according to his potential. In the Raiders’ recent contest against the Packers, the receiver recorded four passes for 45 yards while making only one catch in the opening half and catching three passes on the drive that paved the way for Josh Jacobs’ touchdown. However, a trade for both of them to get a reunion is unlikely to happen as of now.
Adams affirms happiness as a Raider
After getting enrolled in the Raiders roster, Adams said, “It was surreal”, albeit his journey was not totally good. Following his return to the squad after injury, he even vented frustration with his role despite the Raiders’ win. The receiver was targeted nine times, which was significantly less than the weeks before.
Despite the recent outburst, the six-time Pro Bowler said he is happy to don the Raiders jersey while mentioning his dissatisfaction with his current situation.
“I am happy to be a Raider, 100 percent. This was my choice and this is something that I’m standing by, I want to continue to work at, to make it what it’s supposed to be. I’m not happy at every moment with the way things go, but I’m definitely proud to wear this uniform.”
The 30-year-old is in the 10th season of his professional football career and second with the Raiders. He said his decision to stay with the Raiders, who are 3-4 right now, is well thought and he would not regret it anytime soon.
“No regrets at the end of the day. If we lost every game I wouldn’t say I regret my decision because in life you drive yourself crazy if you live that way.”
With the NFL trade deadline looming, Adams’ name has been mentioned several times, but he insisted, “I’m not looking for a new home”.
Even the Raiders are not ready to part ways with the three-time All-Pro soon, as according to Adam Schefter of ESPN, the team had no intention to trade him before the Oct.31 trade deadline.
