Eden Hazard was a menace for many defenders during his time at Chelsea. The Belgian was instrumental in helping the Blues get back to glory days as he won two Premier League titles, two UEFA Europa League titles, and one FA Cup with Chelsea. He was, by far, the team’s best player for many years, and his departure to Real Madrid in 2019 halted his career’s progress.
Every football club’s greatest fear is spending big money on players and not working out. Real Madrid are not new to big-name players flopping at the Bernabeu, with the likes of Kaka, Wesley Sneijder, Arjen Robben, and, most recently, Eden Hazard proving that big-money transfers don’t always work out.
Although Hazard won six trophies during his time at the Spanish capital, his stint with Real Madrid was far from successful. The 32-year-old is on the lookout for a new club as a free agent, as his contract was prematurely terminated by the club.
Eden Hazard rejects Inter Miami and the MLS
Eden Hazard was mooted to win football’s most coveted individual award, the Ballon d’Or, but his move away from Chelsea did little to help his case. A disastrous four-year spell at Real Madrid halted the Belgian’s progress, and the former Chelsea star is now looking to revive his career with another European club as soon as possible.
Inter Miami are building a super team that can challenge on all fronts in the MLS. The Florida-based club have invested heavily in former Barcelona stars Lionel Messi, Sergio Busquets, and Jordi Alba while also working to bring in more big names before the transfer window closes. Reports have now suggested that Eden Hazard has turned out the chance to play alongside Lionel Messi at Inter Miami in Major League Soccer.
According to Footygamer, the Belgian prefers to play for a European club and respectfully turned down David Beckham and his Inter Miami team. A move back to his country has been mooted, with Anderlecht reportedly interested in signing the former Chelsea and Real Madrid player.
Hazard left Real Madrid after mutual agreement
Real Madrid released an official statement on the 3rd of June that they had reached an agreement with Eden Hazard to terminate his contract with the club and leave by the end of the same month. “Real Madrid and Eden Hazard have reached an agreement whereby the player will leave the club as of 30 June 2023,” the statement read.
Hazard spent four years at the club, scoring seven goals and providing four assists, a disappointing output for a player who the club invested over $100 million to sign.
