F1 commentator claims Max Verstappen’s Red Bull success trumps Lewis Hamilton’s Mercedes dominance

The name Peter Windsor has come to be associated with Formula 1. As a journalist, broadcaster, team manager, and advisor, among other positions, he has played a crucial role in the history of the sport. Windsor has had an exceptional F1 career and made incomparable contributions to the sport.

The F1 pundit has publicly revealed that he believes Max Verstappen is more in sync with Red Bull than Lewis was with his Mercedes during the dominance era of 2014–2020 too. Hamilton dominated the sport for seven straight years, and on the other hand, Max Verstappen has just recently entered his era of dominance in 2021.

Verstappen’s incredible performance puts him above Lewis Hamilton

Windsor held a live stream on his YouTube channel where he was asked if Verstappen was responsible for creating such a gap between those contenders or if the gap between Red Bull and McLaren is as wide as it is. Windsor disagreed with the latter and said that Max is more in tune with RB19, even beyond the performance Lewis portrayed in his era of dominance.

He then, to support his point, referred to the Hungarian weekend and said,

“Part of the problem is that Max does such a good job, and did such a good job in Hungary, that he was able to extend the stints to such a point where in the back half of the race, his tires are 10 laps newer than anybody else’s,”

“And that’s how he wins these grands prix making it look so incredibly easy.

Windsor went on to add by saying that he thinks Max has been doing a far better job than anyone else on the grid right now because he has been closely working with Red Bull and is in the zone of understanding his RB19, and this has been going on for a long time. He said that he hasn’t even been in sync with his car for such a long period of time. Even though he has had an amazing car for many years, there has always been a driver at Mercedes who sometimes outpaces him, like Valtteri.

Who has more F1 titles Hamilton or Verstappen?

Lewis Hamilton has five more F1 world championship titles than Max Verstappen. But the aftermath isn’t that simple.

Max Verstappen picked the beginnings of dominance in 2021 after the controversial race win and championship win in Abu Dhabi. He went on to dominate the whole of 2022, putting a rest to all the doubts about him not deserving the world title in 2021. He won his second title in 2022 and is on track to win his third this season. Red Bull and Max Verstappen have been unstoppable this year.

So the real question is, how many more titles will the Dutchman win, and will it be more than Lewis? At this stage of the sport, Red Bull is the undisputed champ, and Max Verstappen is surely going to win this year’s championship as well. But the only problem would come after the new regulations kick in in 2026 when the cars are going to be extensively revamped. Until then, it’s Max’s world alone.
