It is truly remarkable to witness the Spanish driver, Fernando Alonso, continuing to serve as a shining example of resilience, defying his age as the F1 driver of Aston Martin. The 42-year-old made a stunning return to the sport in 2021 after a two-year retirement.
Numerous rumors circulated about the Spanish driver potentially ending his career and not engaging in any further activities in 2024. However, he put an end to these rumors by addressing them in a recent interview.
Fernando Alonso drops retirement hint without a clear end date
Since starting his career in 2001, Alonso has raced on numerous tracks, accumulating a wealth of experience. He won his two consecutive championship titles in 2005 and 2006, currently boasting a total of 36 victories.
The driver initially competed for Alpine when he returned in 2021 after his retirement. However, he seized the opportunity when Sebastian Vettel retired and joined Aston Martin, having an incredible first season with the team.

Nonetheless, there have been speculations and rumors suggesting that Alonso might retire soon, especially with his 2024 contract set to expire. The Spanish driver dispelled these misconceptions in an interview with Fox Sports, stating, “I like being competitive, I like being fast and I hate to lose.
“So you see it’s not very hard to motivate me once I’m inside the car (laughs). Maybe now I’m a bit weaker than when I was 20 years old, but when you age you know your body way better.
“You know which training to do, when you feel tired, what things to avoid, and that is how you make up for it. You make up for strength with wisdom.”
He ended the session saying, “For now no, [I am not thinking of retirement]. I know I’m on the closing side of my career, but for now, I don’t see it. I don’t have a date to put an end to my career.”
Alonso rumored to join Red Bull after 2024 season
Aston Martin started the 2023 season at an incredible pace, securing six podiums in eight races. However, their recent performance has deteriorated to the extent that they found themselves competing near the bottom of the field during specific segments of the Mexico City Grand Prix.
