Fans claim “Cody Rhodes was smart to leave” following new details of CM Punk situation in AEW gets revealed

CM Punk’s termination from AEW has become the talk of the town in just a few days. The former AEW champion was part of a backstage physical altercation with AEW wrestler Perry, which even resulted in bystanders getting hurt while stopping them.

Fans had previously blamed Tony Khan, the CEO of AEW, when the news was confirmed in a recent AEW show. But now, due to another recent report, fans are now pointing their fingers at The Elite team.

Reports claim CM Punk’s failed meeting with The Elite

Former AEW Champion CM Punk was so close to sorting out all the differences with the members of The Elite, as they were scheduled for a meeting along with AEW CEO Tony Khan. However, Punk is currently the talk of the wrestling community for all the wrong reasons. The superstar was fired by Tony Khan from AEW due to his reported misconduct during the All In backstage drama last Sunday. CM Punk allegedly had a physical altercation with Jack Perry regarding a segment.

This was not the first time that the Second City Saint had a backstage altercation with fellow wrestlers. He was also earlier involved in an ugly brawl with Kenny Omega, and The Young Bucks. Moreover, a year has passed since that incident, but the beef between both parties still allegedly stands.

According to a recent report by ‘Haus of Wrestling’, there was a meeting planned between Punk and The Elite faction before All In, and Tony Khan wanted to settle their differences, but it didn’t take place due to The Elite’s call.

“Haus of Wrestling has learned that a sit-down with the relevant members of The Elite, CM Punk, and Tony Khan was scheduled to take place last week, ahead of AEW: All In London, but was called off at the last minute by The Elite’s camp. From what we understand, it was going to take place in Atlanta, and Tony Khan would have been present.” wrote HOW.

Fans slam The Elite for CM Punk firing

Due to the departure of CM Punk from AEW after the All In mega event fans are taking over the internet criticizing the company’s termination decision. The CEO of the promotion was also booed by the fans in the arena in a recent episode of AEW. However, fans are also blaming a big tag team of the AEW roster and that team is none other than The Elite.

CM Punk and Elite have been in a feud for several months now. As things were supposed to be sorted out before the All In event a meeting was arranged but The Elite called off it. Due to this reason, CM Punk was left frustrated. Now, fans are claiming that if the meeting had been done at the scheduled time then Punk might not have gotten angry with Perry in the backstage.

One fan wrote on Twitter or X: “Yet another issue exacerbated by The Elite. As a matter of fairness, @TonyKhan should also fire them as well.”

Another fan Quoted: “Imagine if The Elite pushed Jack Perry or influenced him to make the comments. Such a weird situation.” Some fans even praised WWE star Cody Rhodes as he left AEW previously and fans also wanted Punk to do the same rather than getting terminated without any prior notice.
