Fans mock Draymond Green after Warriors star’s bold claim on college basketball: “Only team you’ll be coaching is the prison team”

Draymond Green is known for being opinionated and not holding himself back when it comes to sharing his views. While it is often expected of well-known figures to say things a certain way so that it does not hamper their image in public, Draymond is certainly not among those when it comes to speaking his mind.

The Warriors guard was seen doing commentary duties during the All-Star weekend. After providing some memorable one-liners, the 4-time NBA Champion turned his attention to the college basketball scene and dove straight into it for an autopsy. While his intentions were praiseworthy enough, the fans had something different in mind about reacting to his evaluation.

Draymond Green talks on coaching college basketball team

Draymond Green is frequently seen reviewing and discussing his outlooks on basketball, the rules and the players in his podcast ‘The Draymond Green Show’ and on X (formerly Twitter). The Golden State Warriors guard did the same recently, sharing his thoughts on a college basketball game between Syracuse Orange vs NC State Wolfpack.

The 4-time NBA All-Star thought after watching the game that he was capable of knocking down all the teams if he was hired as a coach in college basketball. He wrote on X criticizing Chris Bell of Orange for not contributing much in the second half, “I personally think if I ever coached college bball I’d destroy all these guys! I just watched Chris Bell start 8-8 from 3 in the 1st half, And finish 8-10. They didn’t have him set one back screen but only sat in the corner. Didn’t run a pick and roll with him as the back action.”

The 33-year-old is capitalizing on his free time during the All-Star break by watching college basketball games, but that will change soon enough. So far, Green has averaged 9.7 points, 6.7 rebounds and 6.1 assists by playing only 29 games this season due to his 12-game suspension. He will be back in action in the Warriors jersey on February 23 against the Lakers.

Draymond Green was a remarkable player during his time in college when he played for the Michigan State Spartans and has undeniable knowledge about the technicality of the sport. He recently criticized Syracuse Orange’s coach, Adrian Autry, and said that Green himself would have been a great coach.

Green saying something controversial is a common thing, but this time he got brutally trolled by the fans for saying out loud that he would have been a more than capable coach. Here are some of the captured fan reactions:

While another fan posted a picture showing how Green would turn out to be as a coach.

An X user and NBA fan trolled Green by writing, “youd be sacked within a month for doing something that would put bobby knight to shame”. Bobby Knight, the Hall of Famer coach, was accused of verbally and physically abusing players. Another fan seconded the thought, “The problem is that You’d make Bobby Knight seem like Mother Teresa.”

One of them commented, “You can probably coach WWE tryouts thats it.”

Another fan mocked him, saying, “thought this was from the parody account but nah its just Draymond lmao”.

The 4-time NBA All-Star signed a 4-year contract of $100 million last year in October which has a player opt-out option for the 2026-2027 season. So for sure, he is not going to coach a team anytime soon.
