Floyd Mayweather Jr. is one of the very few boxing champions to retire undefeated. After his retirement from professional boxing with a TKO victory over UFC champion Conor McGregor, Mayweather has been involved in a string of exhibition bouts.

Mayweather’s transition from “Pretty Boy Floyd” to Floyd “Money” Mayweather is one of the biggest financial success stories in the history of boxing. This is considering the fact that many legendary boxers including the likes of “Sugar” Ray Robinson and Muhammad Ali had issues with finances.

Floyd Mayweather is the richest boxer in history with a string of high-profile fights. Throughout his illustrious career, he has beaten the likes of Manny Pacquiao, Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez, Miguel Cotto, ‘Suga’ Shane Mosley, Oscar De La Hoya, and Arturo Gatti among a string of boxing legends.

Since his 50th professional bout with Conor McGregor, which ended in a 10th round TKO, Mayweather has shifted attention towards exhibition bouts. His first exhibition bout was against Tenshin Nasukawa at Rizin 14: Saitama which he won by first-round TKO.

This was followed by bouts with Logan Paul and Don Moore that went the distance. Mikuru Asakura, Deji Olatunji, Aaron Chambers, and John Gotti III were his subsequent opponents.

His most recent bout with Gotti ended in a massive brawl and now Mayweather has announced that he would be rematching Gotti on the Super Bowl weekend. Their initial encounter ended in DQ due to excessive trash-talking by Gotti. The stoppage of the bout resulted in a massive brawl inside and outside the ring.

The exhibition bout between Floyd Mayweather Jr and John Gotti III at the FLA Live Arena, Sunrise, Florida, U.S.A in June of 2023 caused an infamous brawl. Gotti is from the infamous crime-syndicate family as both his father and grandfather were Mafiosos.

Due to excessive trash-talking, the referee had to stop the bout, resulting in an infamous brawl inside and outside the boxing ring. Before the stoppage, Gotti was frustrated with the impeccable boxing prowess of Floyd Mayweather Jr. Both fighters engaged in verbal warfare rather than physically, forcing the referee to intervene and stop the fight.

Referee Kenny Bayless, after a string of warnings, eventually stopped the bout. Gotti was very frustrated with Mayweather as he used foul tactics to counter McGregor. After the stoppage, Gotti became even more violent and began to pursue Mayweather.

This caused the teams of both parties to step in, resulting in a brawl. The boxing bout had flown under the radar, but the brawl made the fight popular. Many never had the faintest idea that Floyd Mayweather Jr was fighting John Gotti III. Nevertheless, it did become popular after what transpired.
