The Cleveland Cavaliers were the first home for the now-Lakers star LeBron James and he returned to the Cavs on Saturday. The Lakers faced the Cavs in a regular-season game, which ended in a victory for the gold and purple with a final score of 121-115.
However, before the start of the game, the Cavaliers gave a heartwarming tribute to their hero, LeBron James, who ended the franchise’s long trophy drought just a few seasons after arriving. LeBron was moved by the kind gesture and expressed his thoughts.
Cavs give tribute to LeBron James
The Cleveland Cavaliers gave a heart-warming tribute to LeBron James, which moved the future Hall of Famer. LeBron recently achieved an all-time high in career points scored by a player in the NBA with a massive 39,000+ points. The Cavs made a video of Bron to dedicating it to his hard work and achievements.
The video was shown before the match between the Lakers and the Cavs started. It features LeBron’s best moments during his initial run (2003-2010) with the Cavs and the time he returned (2014-2018) to them from the Miami Heat. At the end of the video, a photo of Bron celebrating was shown with the label “39,000+ points,” paying tribute and marking his historic achievement in the league.
LeBron James talks on his time at Cavs
LeBron James has spent a significant amount of time in the NBA with the Cleveland Cavaliers. His journey started as a little boy from Akron, Ohio, who joined the Cavs and shook the entire league with his debut season. He progressed at such a fast rate that he stunned the veterans and, in no time, became one of the top players in the league.
The years that followed made him arguably the most decorated player in the NBA and possibly the greatest of all time, surpassing the great Michael Jordan. The tribute by the Cavs moved LeBron, and he expressed his thoughts about it in an interview.
Bron reportedly said, “have spent 11 years here and being able to come back here after my Miami run and even win a championship for this franchise, for the city, ending a 52-year [championship] drought I think, or something like that in this city of Cleveland. I think that is something that I will never forget, it doesn’t matter how old I get. I will always remember that moment.”
Bron further expressed how he felt about returning to the Cavs home arena. He said, “Stepping back on this particular floor is always a pretty great feeling, looking up and being a part of all the banners in this arena. And the Number 1 banner, one that sits in middle, 2016 champions, so that is pretty cool.”
