Following Israel Adesanya’s rant on Dricus Du Plessis, Sean Strickland ready to accept Izzy’s callout to UFC 294 on one condition

Israel Adesanya is expressing dissatisfaction with the current status of his newest rival, Dricus Du Plessis, and has decided to offer a shot at the UFC middleweight title to the next deserving contender. In a passionate video posted on Wednesday evening, Adesanya directed a profanity-laden rant towards Du Plessis, who seemed to be on track for a title shot after defeating former champion Robert Whittaker at UFC 290.

Their post-fight interview turned into a viral moment with racially-charged comments exchanged between the two fighters. Although the highly anticipated bout between Adesanya and Du Plessis was never officially confirmed, it was rumored to take place at UFC 293 in Sydney, Australia. However, Adesanya has learned that Dricus may not be ready to compete on that date, which led him to share a fiery video post on social media.

According to Israel, Du Plessis will no longer be the challenger, and Sean Strickland is being considered as a replacement. However, the situation is not entirely confirmed yet. Strickland (27-5 MMA, 14-5 UFC) mentioned on Thursday that he is in discussions with the UFC regarding the opportunity to challenge Adesanya for the UFC middleweight belt.

However, an official agreement has not been reached yet. While Sean Strickland is keen on facing Adesanya at UFC 293 on September 9th, there is one condition – he is seeking a higher payout for the fight.

“We’re in talks,” Strickalnd told Helen Yee. “Like I said, it just comes down to just f*cking pay me. Let me ask you guys, do we really want to watch Dricus and Izzy fight? No. We don’t want to watch Dricus and Izzy fight. You want to watch me fight. Am I going to win? I don’t know, but I’m going to go in there and punch that motherf*cking Chinese right in the face.”

Israel Adesanya blasts Dricus Du Plessis

Reports suggest that Dricus Du Plessis will no longer be part of the highly anticipated fight against Israel at UFC 293 in Sydney, Australia, in September. According to Ariel Helwani’s Twitter update, it appears that the South African fighter might not be able to compete at UFC 293 due to the short turnaround. As a result, Sean Strickland is set to replace Du Plessis on the September 9 card.

In response to this situation, Israel took to his social media and posted a video, expressing his disappointment with Du Plessis and inviting Sean Strickland to join him for ‘The Man Dance’ in September in Sydney.
