The Kylian Mbappe-Real Madrid saga is still ongoing after so many years and many rumors. The pair came close to being complete in 2022, though Mbappe instead decided to stay at Paris Saint-Germain.
This year, the Frenchman again restarted the rumors when he announced that he wouldn’t stay at the club beyond the summer of 2024. And now a former soccer star has given a piece of advice to the player regarding his future decision.
Samir Nasri provides advice to Kylian Mbappe
The former star is none other than Samir Nasri, who previously played as a midfielder for clubs like Arsenal and Manchester City. He has now given Kylian Mbappe his advice on all the transfer decisions, and that is to stay at PSG instead of making a move to Real Madrid.
Nasri spoke in an interview, where he spoke on the matter, expressing his opinion that winning at Madrid had no significance. He said, “Already two years ago, I said he was the best player in the world. I still think so. He is from the Paris region: I, in his place, I would stay at PSG, instead of going to Madrid, to win the 50th Champions League for Real.”
The former French international further said that while he was at Marseille, if the club had significant backing behind them, he may not have left as well. “If Marseille had been owned by Qatar when I was at the club, I would never have left. I think it is better to be the king in your village.”
The advice is a bit ironic since Nasri himself left Arsenal in 2011 to join Manchester City, specifically to win trophies. And yet he thinks that Mbappe should give up winning the Champions League in Madrid and stay and become a legend in Paris.
Real Madrid eyeing Mbappe backup plan
While Real Madrid are the frontrunners to sign Mbappe next summer, there is a chance he may back out, like last time. The club, therefore, is very cautious about proceeding with the deal. Los Blancos have reportedly commenced talks with the player, though they denied it in a statement.
But the club is already ready for another alternative if Kylian Mbappe refuses them. The Spanish club has chosen Jamal Musiala from Bayern Munich to be their next big signing if Mbappe does not come.
Musiala has a contract until 2026 at the Allianz Arena, but has refused to sign a new deal. Bayern are expected to ask for a huge fee, with Manchester City also interested in the player. If Madrid bring him in, it will further add to a huge star studded squad.
The summer transfer window will therefore see another big star join Real Madrid, as part of their Galacticos mission. Whether it is Kylian Mbappe or Jamal Musiala remains to be seen.
