Former Heat star reveals crazy LeBron James locker room ritual before every game: “Superstition related to OCD”

LeBron James is no different from any other sports personality when it comes to pre-game rituals. From Michael Jordan’s habit of wearing his lucky North Carolina University shorts to Serena Williams’ lucky socks, there are countless examples of such pre-game customs.

LeBron who made his iconic chalk toss in the air famous, has some other superstitions as well. The 39-year-old is often seen drawing some signs in the air before the tip-off. His former teammates have provided more details about these and some other unknown pre-game behaviors from King James.

Mario Chalmers and Thomas Bryant disclose LeBron James pre-game ritual

Mario Chalmers and Thomas Bryant recently revealed in a podcast that LeBron James lays his entire uniform on the floor before every game, and he let others walk around it. Chalmers said, “That man will lay his whole outfit on the floor for the game and make sure everybody walks around it.”

The 2-time NBA Champion, who gave credit to LeBron for helping him win the title despite once having beef with him, also spoke about the repercussions of walking over the jersey.

“One time the media walked over the jersey, he snapped. He made the equipment man get him a whole new jersey, shorts, tights, headband, armband, socks and laid it right back out,” said the former Heat guard. Chalmers termed it as an “OCD superstition.”

Thomas Bryant, his former Lakers teammate talked about King James’ seat reservation in the gym and how he never used to let anyone sit on it. Once a teammate tried to sit on it the other one said, “No no no no don’t sit there that’s Bron’s seat.”

LeBron James’ superstition his secret to success?

LeBron James might follow some superstitions before his games but there is no doubt in his greatness. In the past two decades, he has set and broken multiple records and he is not going to stop yet.

Despite being the oldest player, LeBron James is just 74 points away from reaching the 40k milestone as the leading scorer in the NBA. Given his superhuman abilities, it seems he will achieve it in the next few games. He has set the bar very high for others to accomplish all that he has in the 21 years of his career.

The 4-time NBA Champion has scored 30 points and 28 points in the last two games against the San Antonio Spurs and Phoenix Suns after coming back from an injury. LeBron James has shown exceptional drive for fitness and is still going strong this year averaging 25 points, 7.2 rebounds and 7.9 assists per game.

His beliefs might seem odd, but it is what gives King James the mental strength he requires to keep up in the sport for so long, without taking anything away from his hard work in achieving a huge amount of success.
