Former NBA star boldly claims LeBron James could eclipse Kobe Bryant in the West

Basketball experts have always drawn LeBron James into comparisons with several former legends including Michael Jordan. LeBron James’ debate of supremacy in the basketball world has been there for ages and seems short of ending anytime soon. And Kobe Bryant’s comparison with LeBron James has gained widespread attention especially since the duo hasn’t played each other in the playoffs.

LeBron who is in his 21st season in the league, has played in the Eastern Conference for 15 seasons of his career while playing for the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Miami Heat. Despite his time in the East, Gilbert Arenas made a bold claim regarding his career.

Gilbert Arenas sparks debate with bold claim about LeBron

LeBron James’ latest remarks against the Miami Heat were read aloud by the host in the most recent episode of Gil’s Arena. All eyes were drawn to a certain line in the message, though. , “I think I would still be at this level no matter if I would’ve came here or not.”.

Everyone in the group then questioned Arenas to voice his stance on whether what he had said was accurate. Arenas nodded reassuringly when one of the panelists questioned if LeBron James could win the title wherever he went. “If he went west, he’d beat Kobe?”, the panelist inquired and Arenas answered, “Yeah,” without missing a beat.

It may be argued that Arenas’ controversial viewpoint stems from his relationship with the celebrity, but let’s examine the numbers in more detail. Despite their conference differences preventing them from meeting in the playoffs, the game’s titans had some thrilling regular season matchups. Notably, LeBron James is the leader in this comparison. There have been 22 meetings between the two before Bryant’s retirement. LeBron won 16 times out of those contests.

With 28.2 points, LeBron James leads Bryant by 4.4 in the points column once more. LeBron James leads once more in high scores with 41 points, followed by Bryant with 38 points. The regular season statistics between these two incredible athletes told a lopsided tale, with the four-time champion decisively outplaying the Mamba.

Kobe Bryant’s interesting take on LeBron James

The dominant storyline of the 2018 NBA playoffs has been how LeBron, with his incredible on-court performance, has led a group of underdogs to the NBA Finals. In an interview with the New York Times, Kobe Bryant kicked against the Cavaliers’ critics, refusing to accept the notion that they lack skill.

“It seems like he has some good talent to me”, he went on to say. “We focus on his one mistake and that tends to overshadow all the things he’s done to help them win a championship before.”

Kobe Bryant doesn’t get why people have to say bad things about everyone else to brag about how amazing LeBron is and said that it’s not acceptable, that talented guys are playing around him.  He debunks the idea that LeBron James is playing with a pile of junk players.

As Kobe says, the Cavs have had strong performances from Kevin Love and Rodney Hood in the Finals. If JR hadn’t made that stupid move in the first game or if Kevin Durant hadn’t fired up in the third, the Cavs might have easily led two games to one at that point.
