Former Ravens star claims Micah Parsons ‘lacking leadership’ real reason for Cowboys playoff exit

Despite consistently excelling in the regular season over the past three years, the Dallas Cowboys have faced challenges maintaining their momentum when it matters most in the playoffs. This unexpected dip in performance has left star players like Dak Prescott and Micah Parsons still in pursuit of their first Lombardi Trophy in their NFL careers.

Though Parsons got backing from celebrity figures like Lil Wayne, not everyone shares the same sentiments about Parsons, as a former Baltimore Ravens’ linebacker holds a differing perspective regarding him.

Bart Scott rips at Micah Parsons

In a recent appearance on Monday’s episode of “Get Up,” ESPN analyst Bart Scott delivered scathing criticism aimed at Micah Parsons. Scott expressed concerns about Parsons’ leadership abilities, stating that he lacks an understanding of what it takes to succeed in the NFL.

“He’s lacking leadership. He doesn’t understand what winning in this league is all about. Is he a great player? Yes, but just because you’re a great player doesn’t mean you’re a great leader. He needs to go to a leadership school and learn how to lead by example.”

Additionally, Scott highlighted what he perceives as Parsons’ sensitivity, noting his tendency to respond to criticism on social media. The former player then advised Parsons to refrain from engaging in social media activity and focus on his responsibilities on the field.

“He’s the most sensitive guy I’ve ever seen. He responds to everything. Get off of social media. Quit tweeting. Quit talking about responding, and go about your business.”

Scott’s criticisms came on the heels of the Cowboys’ last defensive struggles in a wild-card playoff loss to the Green Bay Packers, where they conceded 41 points in a 48-32 defeat on January 14th. Parsons himself admitted feeling hesitant to be seen in public immediately after the loss. However, he labeled his team solely responsible for this while subtly criticizing the team’s failure to go “all in” to secure the necessary talents.

Micah Parsons sheds light on conversation with Cowboys owner

During his appearance on the “Stephen A Smith Show,” Micah Parsons didn’t just defend his quarterback Dak Prescott against their biggest critics–he also shed light on his personal conversations with Cowboys owner Jerry Jones. Parsons revealed that he and Jones have engaged in extensive discussions lasting two to three hours.

In the course of the interview, Parsons delved into the strategic conversations he had with Jerry Jones. He expressed his perspective on the defensive needs of the Cowboys by referencing successful teams in the final four of the league.

“I told Jerry, I said, ‘Look at every team that was in that final four. Who did they have? (…) Who did Baltimore have? A great linebacker core, right? Who did San Francisco have? A great linebacker core. Kansas City? (Nick) Bolton, and they came along.’ I said, ‘We need to get another bigger linebacker who’s going to come downhill.’ And I said ‘we need to get a super 330-pound nasty interior (defensive lineman),” he said, per Yardbarker.

The playoff defeat was a tough blow for Parsons and the team, especially considering their impressive home record throughout the season. Since the loss, the three-time Pro Bowler has been vocal in his critiques, engaging in a social media spat with Skip Bayless, and more recently, shutting down Stephen A. Smith by displaying his skills on the basketball court.
