Former NBA star Dwight Howard is once again making headlines, and unfortunately, it is for negative reasons. A Georgia court has refused to dismiss the lawsuit against Howard, opting to keep the sexual assault allegations against him.
Howard, who had been linked with a move back to the NBA, is currently playing in an overseas league. He is not in the best situation right now, and if proven guilty, things might worsen.
Georgia court rejects Dwight Howard SA lawsuit dismissal case
Dwight Howard is currently facing allegations of sexual assault and battery. His case is being held in the Court of Georgia state and most recently the judge of the court has denied Howard’s motion to dismiss the lawsuit against him.
Howard had talked about the allegations against him, choosing not to comment on any speculations about his sexual orientation. The case is still in the discovery phase, and a trial date has not yet been revealed.
“My comment, at this point in time, is that we are glad the court denied Mr. Howard’s motion and look forward to proving our client’s case,” said the prosecution’s attorney about the court’s decision to reject Howard’s request.
Why is Dwight Howard getting sued?
Dwight Howard is being sued for sexual misconduct, the allegations against him are imposed by Stephen Harper. It has been reported that Harper and Howard first got to know each other via direct messages on Instagram in 2021.
Stephen submitted his complaint with screenshots of his conversation with the former NBA star. He also submitted his Uber receipt for his trip to Howard’s house. Harper alleged that Howard had physically harmed him and caused him mental trauma during his visit to his house.
The lawyers of the former NBA star came to their client’s defense. They said, “What was supposed to be a private consensual encounter was purposefully made public for profit and Mr. Howard looks forward to bringing the truth to light in a court of law.”
Howard’s defense claimed that Harper had imposed fake allegations on their client with the intention of gaining profit. It is to be remembered that there has been no trial yet and Howard is innocent until proven guilty.
