After an embarrassing (0-40) defeat to the Dallas Cowboys in the season opener, the New York Giants managed to regroup in their Week 2 game against the Arizona Cardinals. However, they encountered another setback by losing to the San Francisco 49ers in their last match.
Besides on-field rivalry, the ugly fights between the 49ers and Giants fans hit the headlines. This will be marked the third time fights have been caught on camera this year, with the first one being during a soccer match in July, and the second one being in a preseason game between the Denver Broncos and San Francisco.
Massive brawl between Giants and 49ers fans
Snaps from inside Levi Stadium show that several fights broke out in the stands. One Giants fan was seen getting punched, resulting in a bloody face. Meanwhile, the man who threw the punch proceeded to join in attacking a San Francisco fan who was struggling to defend himself against multiple attackers.
However, this is not the only fight that happened in this game, as two female San Francisco fans were also seen involved in a melee. The incident took an ugly turn when the woman in the red shirt and black pants grabbed the hat of the woman in the white jersey, causing her wig to fall off on the stairs.
Fights at NFL games are becoming increasingly concerning. Just last week, a New England Patriots fan died following a fight with a Miami Dolphins fan at Gillette Stadium. In another match between the Cowboys and New York Jets, a person was knocked out after receiving a headbutt from a Cincinnati Bengals fan.
Giants vs. 49ers game review
The 49ers improved to a 3-0 record by defeating the Giants 30-12 on Thursday night. On the offensive side of the ball, San Francisco continued to perform well, successfully converting 71% of their third downs. Their signal-caller once again showcased MVP-level performance completing 9-of-12 passes for 121 yards along with a touchdown on third down.
The trio of George Kittle, Deebo Samuel, and Christian McCaffrey contributed 168 yards. Meanwhile, the Giants’ offense appeared lackluster against their rivals’ defense. In the absence of veteran Saquon Barkley, they managed only 2.6 yards per carry for a total of just 29 rushing yards.
On the defensive side of the ball, the 49ers continued to pressure their opponents, with their formidable trio – Javon Hargrave, Arik Armstead, and Javon Kinlaw – each recording a minimum of three pressures. On the other hand, the Giants’ signal-caller, Daniel Jones, failed to showcase his skills after being sacked twice and intercepted once.
