Gilbert Arenas revealed getting shocked after he went to confirm a call regarding Kobe Bryant

Kobe Bryant is remembered as one of the greatest to ever play the game, and the legacy that he built is among the most decorated in the league. However, this legacy was not built overnight; the black mamba worked really hard to become the player he wanted to be.

He worked himself day and night in the gym and practiced hours and hours before a game. His strong mentality, also known as mamba mentality, allowed him to devote himself to his art. Gilbert Arenas recently shared an incident that displays the insane work ethic of the black mamba.

Arenas revealed amazing Kobe Bryant story

The former NBA player and now popular podcast show host Gilbert Arenas recently shared a story featuring Kobe Bryant that revealed the insane work ethic of the black mamba. Arenas explained that once he received a call, he went to check on Kobe practicing at 3 am morning before a game. He was stunned by the insane dedication Kobe put into practicing before a game which left him inspired.

Arenas recalled the phone call, “I got a call, ‘What is Kobe doing there?’ oh yeah he waking up at 3, at the gym at 3 o’clock- No he ain’t, yeah he is.” He further added, “I took a cab and went to see and he was there, he was really there. Now I got a chance to watch him, how he works and he was in full sweat. He was going to a game live battling, getting hit going…. Doing the same move 300 times, 400 times, so I am writing this down trying to figure out. I gotta out this in because this is what he was doing.”

Jerry West also lauded Kobe’s work ethic

A big chunk of credit for Kobe Bryant’s entire career goes to the former Lakers manager Jerry West. Jerry is a brilliant former player and one of the most successful managers in the NBA, he masterminded the Lakers’ metamorphosis into a winning juggernaut. He was the one who spotted something special in Kobe and acquired the young 17-year-old by trading the veteran Vlade Divac. He took a gamble on him and it proved to be his best gamble ever.

West applauded Kobe for his work ethic and said, “What most impressive about Kobe are his desire, work ethic, and his competitive nature. (Kobe) comes to arena at 4:30, before anybody is here, he works on his game alone. He has incredible skills and a desire to be a great player.”
