‘Glazers Out’ protest crosses Atlantic after US-based Manchester United supporters fly plane over Glazers-owned Buccaneers’ home ground

‘Glazers Out’ has been one of the most famous phrases in club football for the past seven years. Manchester United fans have never shied away from expressing their displeasure with the club, with many believing that the lack of success on the pitch stems from the Glazers caring more about money than the team.

Ironically, United have spent more money than any other top-flight team in Europe in the last ten years, forking over $1.4 billion on transfers. However, with the team’s recent woes on the pitch, US-based United supporters have taken it a step further to fly a plane over Tamper Bay Buccaneers’ home ground to protest against the Glazers.

Some Manchester United fans came together to take their protest to the next level by flying a plane with the banner ‘Glazers Out’ over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ home ground in Tampa, Florida, an American football team also owned by the Glazer family. While United have struggled heavily since Sir Alex Ferguson retired in 2013, the family-owned American football team has enjoyed more success over the years, with their most recent Super Bowl championship coming in 2020.

Fans quickly took to Twitter to share their satisfaction with the stunt, with one fan saying, “IT’S UP! #GlazersOut. Flying high in Tampa Bay for tonight’s Monday Night Football game. Let them hear us everywhere.”

Sadly, several other protests have been held in the past, with some fans going as far as protesting daily in front of Old Trafford, but their actions have failed to bring a change to the club.

This recent ‘Glazers Out’ protest may have been born out of the report from The Mail on Sunday claiming that the Glazers were ready to take United off the market after announcing their intention to sell the club last year, much to the annoyance of the club fans.

United stagnated sale irate fans further

Manchester United fans have been left furious after new reports claim that the club is set to be taken off the market by the Glazers. The club was put up for sale last year, drawing interest from investors across the globe, most notably Sheikh Jassim from Qatar and Sir Jim Ratcliffe of the United Kingdom.

Bids were sent, but the Glazers appeared to have only made this move to raise the club’s stock, damaging their reputation further in the process. Manchester United fans have never loved the Glazers. Many believe they’re only there to make United a commercial club as opposed to what it used to be in the past. A club with a rich history as Manchester United hasn’t won a league title since 2013. It just says a lot about how the ones that run the club have other intentions, not caring about the fans or the club in general.
