Brock Lesnar was recently re-added to the WWE men’s roster list on their website. The superstar was associated with Vince McMahon’s lawsuit, which made the higher-ups at WWE to reduce Lesnar’s screen time. Lesnar once dominated the ring, and even stars like Undertaker and John Cena struggled to keep up with the ‘Beast.’
However, Brock’s downfall came at the 2016 Survivor Series, where former WWE star Goldberg destroyed him with two signature moves and one finishing move within a time frame of 86 seconds.
Goldberg explains his squash match against Brock Lesnar
Goldberg’s last match at WWE saw him Clash with Roman Reigns. He returned to WWE in 2016, nearly 12 years after leaving the promotion. Following his return, Brock Lesnar began a feud with the master of the ‘Jackhammer.’ After a few altercations, it was decided that both stars would clash at Survivor Series 2016 at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
The match saw one of the most iconic moments in WWE history, as Goldberg defeated the ‘Beast Incarnate’ within 1 minute and 26 seconds. ‘Da Man’ executed two spears, causing Lesnar to falter, and then he finished it with a Jackhammer.
Goldberg recently appeared on ‘Inside the Ropes’, where he reminisced about his match with Lesnar. He was asked about his opinion on defeating Brock so quickly, to which he said that this was out of his expectation. Goldberg went on to explain that he was only signed for one match and the higher-ups decided to match him against the ‘Beast.’
He continued by saying, “Some brilliant dude came up with this idea that, to drop people on their head, to turn them over their head and there was no way anybody would’ve expected that. Like how in God’s name, does this 50-year-old dude who hasn’t been on the business for 13 years come back to beat their man? I didn’t know it was gonna happen. I think because nobody knew it gonna happen, including the people in the back, that’s why it succeeded.”
The Brock Lesnar vs Goldberg trilogy
Brock Lesnar and Goldberg have clashed three times throughout their career. It started back in 2004 at the WrestleMania 20 event, where Stone Cold Steve Austin was the special guest referee. Their match was the biggest match of that year, as rumors at that time were that Goldberg’s contract was going to expire and Brock Lesnar was also set to depart in the same year to try his hand at ‘American Football.’
Near the end of the match, Brock charged Goldberg but instead got a Spear and a Jackhammer. After which Goldberg got the pin to secure his victory. ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin surprised the fans after he gave a ‘Stunner’ to both Brock & Goldberg after the match.
The second clash also saw Goldberg taking the win at Survivor Series 2016, where he got the victory within 90 seconds after the bell rung. Their last and final match was at WrestleMania 33 at Camping World Stadium in Orlando, Florida for the Universal Championship. ‘The Beast Incarnate’ gave his 100% this time, expecting six German suplexes and an F-5 to secure the title.
