Goldberg hopes his son, Gage stays clear of Wrestling business

In the late 1990s, Bill Goldberg became well-known in the world of pro wrestling, capturing fans everywhere though he wasn’t originally really passionate about the sport. After that, his wrestling success opened doors for him in other fields than wrestling, including acting.

So, many of his supporters have high hopes that Bill’s kid will be able to dominate the ring in the same way that his father did. However, It came as an unpleasant surprise to Goldberg’s supporters, as he recently revealed that he isn’t in favor of his kid becoming pro wrestling.

Goldberg not high on son joining wrestling

Even though he initially disliked wrestling, the legendary Goldberg became a sensation in the late ’90s. As a result of his success in WCW and WWE, he was able to pursue his career in acting and beyond.

At a later stage, Goldberg returned to the ring for reasons beyond professional ambition: he wanted to give his kid a taste of the wrestling lifestyle. The Iconic’s true motivation was a testament to his unwavering commitment to the sport that he once ruled.

Strangely, considering that he adores wrestling a lot, it surprised everyone when he said he didn’t want his son to become a wrestler. A conversation that took place between Goldberg and TMZ highlighted his thoughts on the future of his kid Gage.

During the discussion, ‘Da Man’ stated his desire for Gage to enroll at the University of Georgia. Goldberg seems quite supportive of his son’s decisions and goals, even though he knows his son may have a tough time finding his way away from wrestling.

He openly said, “I sure hope not. If there is wrestling in his future, I have to be his agent. Nobody is going to like that. The fact is, yes, it is nice to have that as a feather in your cap, something you can fall back on. It’s not as if his dad was a no-name goofy wrestler who didn’t make an impact. My son wants to be the antithesis of me…..He doesn’t want to follow in my footsteps. He wants to destroy them and make his own. That hurts sometimes, but I’m appreciative of it.

It seems that Goldberg’s kid has no plans to enter the wrestling arena in the near future, which some might see as a positive move. Instead, Gage Goldberg has chosen to play football for Colorado in 2024.

Goldberg’s son, Gage to play for Colorado

Some of you can’t afford to be nameless when you’re the son of a great professional wrestler and you’re signing up with a football club coached by another legendary athlete. However, Gage Goldberg, the senior linebacker of the Boerne Champion is unconcerned about that.

Gage became a chosen walk-on for Deion Sanders‘ Colorado Buffaloes in February. The connection between Deion Sanders and Bill Goldberg had an effect on Gage’s decision to join the Colorado squad in 2024.

Gage’s decision to seek a football career rather than following his father’s footsteps and pursuing a career in wrestling was a courageous one. He is, however, thankful that his father helped him make that choice.

While talking about his father’s support, Gage said, “My dad’s advice was go to the program that stands out to you the most and the one you know that you will love. I already know at this moment that I will love Colorado and it will also be great to be learning from one of my dad’s best friends ever.”

Oh, hi, this is Md Robin Ahmed, a WWE fan and I everyday go through a slew of popular WWE stories on Sportszion. Watching Big Show's Showstopper was the beginning of my passion for WWE, though I have to say that his Chokeslam is not one of my favorite moves. Over time, my love for professional wrestling has intensified, mostly due to the Shield, and my all-time favorite wrestler in WWE is Big Dog. I would give everything to be able to be within a few feet of him to witness his iconic Superman Punch and Spear. My major is engineering, but I'm most happy when I'm doing something artistic that doesn't put me under any pressure. Watching them wrestle and discuss their matches is always fun for me. And I've finally discovered a career that gives me fun since it allows me to with my dream heroes lifestyle. So, Welcome! I'd love to hear from you on LinkedIn and Facebook.
