Harry Kane made a bold move a few months ago after leaving Tottenham Hotspur to join Bayern Munich. The move took forever to be wrapped up, but the England captain got his wish and finally left his boyhood club after a 19-year stint.
The 30-year-old English forward has made a great start to life in Germany, scoring eight goals in just seven Bundesliga appearances. With a bright future in Germany for the England international, the England captain hopes to emulate Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi regarding career longevity. England hosts the 2028 European Championship, and Kane hopes to help his country lift it on home soil.
Harry Kane talks about his future
Harry Kane has every reason to be excited about the future. He plays for a team with higher chances of winning more titles, and England is hosting the EURO 2028, a tournament he hopes to win even though he’ll be 34 by then. “I’m aiming to still be around for EURO 2028, but of course, it is still a few years away. I would like to think my career will go to my late thirties – at least,” he said in a press conference.
“When you look at Ronaldo and Messi, that makes me believe and shows it is possible to play until your late thirties and that is what I’m planning to do,” he added.
Kane put it all on the line when he pushed Tottenham Hotspur to accept a transfer for him to join Bayern Munich in August. It was a carefully made decision as Kane chose to join a club with the potential to win more titles than stay in England to break Alan Shearer’s Premier League record.
“This is the first transfer that I’ve been involved in, it was an up-and-down experience for sure, but I am happy to be here,” Kane said after the transfer was confirmed.
“I’ve always said in my career, I’ve wanted to keep improving, keep pushing myself to my limits and see how far that can take me. Ultimately, I want to be playing at the highest level, I want to be playing in the Champions League, I want to be fighting for titles every year,” he concluded.
While Harry Kane left as Tottenham’s all-time goalscorer with 280 goals, he failed to lift any trophy with the club. However, he enjoyed a great personal run, scoring 218 Premier League goals, the second-best in the competition’s history. He also won the Golden Boot thrice and was part of the Tottenham team that made the Champions League final in 2019.
Harry Kane dreams of winning EURO 2028
Harry Kane and England came close to winning EURO 2020 but lost to Italy in the final. However, the new Bayern Munich striker has shifted his attention to the EURO 2028, which England will be hosting, and the former Spurs striker dreams of lifting it on home soil even though he’ll be in his mid-thirties by then.
UEFA confirmed the UK and the Republic of Ireland’s bids to co-host the EURO 2028. Just like FIFA, UEFA has adopted the idea of more than one country hosting the tournament, as the body also confirmed Turkey and Italy as co-hosts of the 2032 edition.
Harry Kane may not have to wait till 2028 before lifting the EURO trophy with England, as they have the chance to win it in 2024 when Germany hosts it.
