Harry Kane reflects on Bayern Munich’s ‘disappointing’ loss to Lazio in UCL

Harry Kane is acclaimed as one of the most prolific strikers in the world, having proved his goal-scoring and attacking prowess in the English Premier League with Tottenham Hotspur. Last summer, he moved to the Bundesliga to play for the German champions, Bayern Munich, in pursuit of glory.

Kane began his Munich chapter by breaking records and firing up the German league with his reputed scoring spree, proving to be an ideal successor to their former Polish goal-machine, Robert Lewandowski. However, the recent results of the Bavarians have prompted the striker to reflect on his performances.

Harry Kane addresses Lazio loss

Bayern Munich faced an upsetting 1-0 defeat against the high-spirited Lazio in the Italian capital at the Stadio Olimpico on Wednesday. For the hosts, their target man, Ciro Immobile, converted the spot-kick penalty in the second half to secure a triumph in the UEFA Champions League Round of 16, Leg 1 fixture.

The visitors found themselves down to 10 men after a reckless challenge from Dayot Upamecano resulted in a sending-off in the 67th minute. This incident further contributed to their degraded performance. Despite boasting a star-studded lineup of the finest attacking players, the Bundesliga side failed to register a single shot on target.

Similarly, it was also a frustrating evening for their poacher, Harry Kane, who struggled to penetrate Lazio’s defense and level the score for his side. He expressed his views after the game.

He said, “It’s been a tough week.., the second half was disappointing. We came out with less energy and less confidence. We’re still in this, they come to Munich in a few weeks. We have to look forward and try to turn our momentum around”

Bayern Munich suffer back-to-back losses

The Bavarians entered into the European clash following a crucial loss in the league title decider against Bayer Leverkusen in a blockbuster match, on Saturday. The reigning champions were humbled with a 3-0 scoreline by the Xabi Alonso-managed side, which extended their lead at the top of the table.

The fresh defeat registered as their second consecutive of the campaign and has mounted immense pressure on the future of their boss, Thomas Tuchel, after failing to deliver the desired outcomes. Currently standing second on the points table, an early exit from the DFL Super Cup in the 2nd round is among the series of upsets.

In return leg-fixture, Bayern will host the Serie A side at their home, the Allianz Arena, on March 5th, hoping to overturn the disappointment of the first leg after losing their European unbeaten streak. They made it into the knockout stage by winning Group A with 5 wins and 1 draw.
