Christian Horner has always been a man to look up to for F1 drivers, along with the hulk of the industry, Max Verstappen. Since the beginning of his career, the Red Bull boss has dedicated a lot of his time to the F1 industry.
Helmut Marko has been working alongside him this whole time and played a vital role in winning three consecutive championships. However, certain rumors suggested Horner wished Marko would be fired from the job.
Christian Horner allegedly wishes to fire Helmut Marko
There have been reports of Christian Horner trying to reduce his competition by wanting to fire Helmut from his job legitimately, as he has to “struggle” for the power within his presence unnecessarily.
With the death of Red Bull co-founder Dietrich Mateschitz during last year’s United States Grand Prix, Horner decided to inherit all the power by himself, with only Marko as a hurdle.
Christian Horner has been the principal of Red Bull since 2005, along with Helmut Marko as an advisor. Slowly, but steadily, he has been usurping power since then, plotting strategies for the team to shine among the other teams, regardless of the difficulties.
Christian Horner is also said to be a “great influence” on sister team AlphaTauri, which means that Horner is often involved in driver and director meetings.
The partnership was starting to be more distant when Helmut Marko made a racist statement about the F1 driver, Sergio Perez. Even though he publicly apologized for his behavior, Horner took it to heart and, since then, has been skeptical about Marko’s presence on the team.
Christian Horner wants AlphaTauri driver Yuki Tsunoda out as well
Being a high influence on the AlphaTauri team, the team principal also wants Yuki Tsunoda gone, a decision that would require Honda to write a check for $10 million. He also urged the FIA for the third car rules to be reconsidered.
Many sources have failed to know the exact cause of his wish; however, with him being an important member of the community, his opinion will certainly be counted.
An anonymous reporter have stated: “Something Marko has been trying to prevent to avoid future friction with the engine supplier.”
Another report suggests that Marko “is in serious danger of losing his position”, with the upcoming meeting scheduled next week, as Marko’s reputation was already spoiled with so many allegations against him. Fans are also predicted to support the decision as many have been in rage regarding Sergio Perez’s case.
