Henry Cejudo, in his latest episode on his YouTube channel, shared his thoughts on the controversy surrounding Ian Garry’s marriage with Layla Anna-Lee. Garry and Strickland are currently engaged in a social media feud due to the controversy.
Now, the former two-division champion and Olympic gold medalist, Henry Cejudo, has provided his two cents on the matter, which is now the biggest topic of debate in MMA. Nevertheless, a fight with Vicente Luque looms for Ian Garry amidst the controversy surrounding his marriage.
Chael Sonnen and Henry Cejudo shed light on Ian Garry situation
Henry Cejudo last fought at UFC 288 against Aljamain Sterling in an unsuccessful attempt to win back the bantamweight title he once vacated. Now, Cejudo is rumored to face Sterling’s friend and the 2nd ranked UFC bantamweight, Merab Dvalishvili. Nevertheless, in his YouTube video, Cejudo shed light on another important topic of debate in MMA.
Ian Garry is getting a lot of slack from the MMA community for his marriage with his much older wife, Layla Anna-Lee who is 40 years old to Ian Garry who is 26. Moreover, Garry changed his surname from Garry to Machado-Garry, where Machado is the maiden name of Layla Anna-Lee, who is half Brazilian and half British. Furthermore, Anna-Lee authored a book titled ‘How to be a WAG?’ that has been criticized for being a guide for gold-digging women to trap young and famous athletes.
Anna-Lee and Garry have come forward and clarified that the book is nothing but satire and is not a guidebook as precipitated on social media. Now, Cejudo has provided his take on the matter. Cejudo echoed Chael Sonnen’s sentiments on the matter.
“Chael Sonnen has been telling Ian Garry, ‘You better have a lot of armor. You better have a knife, a brick, a tank, everything under the sun because Colby Covington, Mr. the King of Miami, Mr. Chaos, he’s got something for you.'”, said Cejudo.
Cejudo seconded Sonnen’s thoughts that Garry has already made an enemy out of Colby Covington, one of the meanest trash talkers in MMA. With Garry fighting Luque in the undercard of UFC 296 which is headlined by Leon Edwards and Colby Covington, the press conference is going to get extra spicy. Garry was recently ousted from Leon Edwards’ gym in Birmingham by head coach Dave Lovell citing Garry’s nomadic nature not aligning with them.
“He’s gonna be thick-skinned enough to be able to fight against a guy like Vicente Luque and actually win. Because if he doesn’t, and if he does get hurt like he did in that sparring session a few days ago…”, Cejudo advises Garry on his upcoming bout. Cejudo feels that Garry needs to separate the controversy brewing in his head from the fight to actually win against a seasoned welterweight in Vicente Luque.
Sean Strickland roasts Ian Garry’s wife
Sean Strickland, known for his ultra-conservative views, showed no leniency when he criticized Ian Garry for his marriage to an older woman and his subsequent surname change. Apparently, it was not criticism but help that Strickland offered when he came to know of the matter.
However, Garry threatened to sue Strickland for social media posts that the UFC middleweight champion directed at his wife. An enraged Strickland leaked the private conversation that he had with Garry and diminished his worth as a man. Now, Strickland has doubled down on his criticism and has yet again attacked Layla Anna-Lee, now Layla Machado-Garry.
“Ian Garry’s wife is a SEXUAL PREDATOR……. She sought out a young athlete to seduce because she’s getting old and still wanted to be famous.. No buddy of fame wanted you so you preyed on a kid… You are and will forever be known as a succubus…”, tweeted Strickland on X, formerly Twitter. Strickland blatantly called Ian Garry’s wife a ‘SEXUAL PREDATOR’ and yet again addressed her as a ‘succubus’.
Ian Garry, known for being one of the brashest fighters in the UFC, has now made his social media account private after facing rampant online hate directed at his wife. Strickland is at the forefront of these attacks, along with controversial MMA analyst and journalist, MMA Guru. Moreover, many MMA fighters have joined in on trolling Garry, with Dillon Danis even sharing a screenshot of a conversation he had with Anna-Lee in 2018.
Nevertheless, it has all made Garry’s upcoming bout with Vicente Luque even more intriguing. It needs to be noted that Garry is an undefeated fighter and has on numerous occasions claimed that he will be the champion in the division. On the other hand, Strickland is scheduled to face off against South Africa’s Dricus Du Plessis at UFC 297 at the Scotiabank Arena in Vancouver, Canada.
