The Kansas City Chiefs, led by Patrick Mahomes, started the season on cloud nine following another Lombardi Trophy-winning season. However, since the start of the season, the Chiefs have been facing intense competition to live up to their lofty aspirations for the Super Bowl.
Amidst this challenging season, Mahomes has been maintaining a hectic schedule to stay on top of his game. Interestingly, a promise made by the star quarterback to the renowned actor Henry Winkler slipped his mind until the actor recently brought it up again, prompting Mahomes to recall the commitment he had made.
Henry Winkler claims Patrick Mahomes ghosted him
In November of last year, Winkler attended a Chiefs away game against the Los Angeles Chargers, where he crossed paths with Mahomes on the NFL sideline. The 28-year-old quarterback spontaneously pledged to share a dinner with the legendary actor.
However, amidst the demands of the Kansas City regular season, Mahomes has not yet found the time to fulfill this commitment. This delightful story unfolded on the ‘Rich Eisen Show,’ where Winkler openly expressed his admiration for Mahomes, calling him a “hero” despite never having lived in Kansas City.
“He is one of my heroes. I root for that team, even though I have never lived there. I think he is just phenomenal to watch,” he said per TMZ.
Eager to meet the NFL star, Winkler showcased his culinary skills and invited Mahomes to enjoy a delicious meal of chicken stuffed with ricotta and spinach whenever he finds himself in Los Angeles.
“We make a great chicken stuffed with ricotta and spinach. It could be yours if ever you’re in L.A.”
Perhaps Winkler has to wait till the end of the season to get a dinner night with Patrick Mahomes, as the Chiefs superstar is running out of time to let his team enjoy a winning streak.
Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes is busy with dominant NFL wins
In the absence of Travis Kelce, the Detroit Lions let Patrick Mahomes’ gang kick off the season with a defeat. Since Kelce resumed playing in Week 2, the two-time Super Bowl winner regained his footing with a convincing 9-17 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars.
The dynasty continues over the New York Jets, Los Angeles Chargers, Denver Broncos, Minnesota Vikings, and Chicago Bears in their following weeks. Nevertheless, among the losing teams, the Broncos could hand the Mahomes team sound revenge, looting the starter’s two impressive records.
It did not take Mahomes’ team to regain their footing against the Miami Dolphins, closing the night with a 21-14 win in Week 9 in Germany. Mahomes made the winning night memorable for him by switching jerseys with Antoine Griezmann, the forward for Atletico Madrid.
Just in the following week, the Philadelphia Eagles offered them their third setback in the season before the Mahomes team reached 8-3 after frustrating the Las Vegas Raiders.
The Chiefs floundering season is proof of why Patrick Mahomes is giving less importance to his off-field life.
