Gervonta Davis is a boxing personality with an unbeatable record, yet outside the ring, he frequently finds himself embroiled in controversies. His last fight was against Ryan Garcia in April 2023, and there has been no indication that he is actively seeking his next potential match-up.
Nevertheless, there are volunteers within his boxing weight class who are eager to take on the challenge of facing the undefeated boxer. Now, WBC super lightweight champion Devin Haney once approached Gervonta Davis’s team for a match-up.
Gervonta Davis blasts Devin Haney
Recently, Gervonta Davis made remarks about Devin Haney. While Haney may have a reputation for his unique style in the boxing community, “Tank” has different opinions about the styling of the WBC champion. After Gervonta rejected the contract for a fight against Devin, fans might now witness a non-fight feud as Davis seemed unimpressed with what the 25-year-old is up to.
One fan accused WBC champion Devin Haney of copying his styling and asked to pay Gervonta Davis some money for copying his styling. When “Tank” interacted with that fan on Twitter, he commented, “He’s been doing this for years. He’s a d**k eater.”
What did Devin Haney’s father say about Gervonta Davis?
Devin Haney’s father, Bill Haney, who is actively involved in promoting his son, also engaged in making fun of Gervonta Davis. Bill took to his Instagram account, where he posted a story with insulting remarks about “Tank.”
Bill Haney captured a screenshot of Gervonta Davis’s Twitter handle bio page and later crossed out “The Big Ape” {gorilla emoji}, replacing it with “Little Monkey” along with a laughing emoji.”
Earlier, the same kind of comments were recorded when Devin’s father was found calling a monkey Adbul Wahid, aka Gervonta Davis. This came to light when Gervonta converted his religion to Islam, via The Sportsrush.
Later, one user commented, “They’re using Tank’s name to promote the Ryan fight,” pointing out the tactics of the father and son to promote the fight Ryan Garcia and Devin Haney are expecting to announce soon. Garcia is showing interest in the rematch, but Gervonta has shown little interest in the rematch yet.
However, Haney poses a new challenge to test his undefeated streak against Davis’s unbeaten record. The 29-year-old Davis boasts 29 wins, with 27 of those victories secured through knockouts. In contrast, Devin has notched up 31 wins to his name.
