HOFer justifies WWE’s decision to have Becky Lynch win the women’s title

On Monday, Becky Lynch stood tall and celebrated with the crowd to close WWE RAW, but questions were raised about whether she was the right one to win. The majority wanted Liv Morgan to capture the gold, but that didn’t happen as Liv ended the night as a runner-up once again.

Amid the controversy, WWE Hall of Famer, Bully Ray has backed WWE’s decision to put the title on The Man. Talking on “Busted Open Podcast”, the former team 3D member explained why Liv did not win the title and said, “When Liv attacked Rhea, obviously the injury, let’s just say the injury was not supposed to happen. If Liv attacked Rhea, do you think Liv would have had an opportunity, would they’ve told a story with Rhea in this short period of time where Liv would’ve defeated Rhea for that championship?” (After 4:47)

His co-host Dave LaGreca answered, “I doubt it. I don’t think so,” to which Bully Ray replied, “Right. So, the plan right this very second as of last night was to not get that championship on Liv Morgan. “He went on to add further, “When you have a situation like what happened with Rhea Ripley, where there’s an unfortunate accident, she gets injured, and you have a championship that you need to double park on somebody, you double park it on a huge star.”

That huge star was undoubtedly Becky Lynch, who can carry the title till WWE builds Liv Morgan as an undeniable contender. Despite the murmurs surrounding her win, Becky Lynch expressed her pride in winning the world championship and what it meant to her.

Becky Lynch talks about inspiring daughter with the win

Becky Lynch and Seth Rollins’ daughter Roux is not unfamiliar with WWE backstage as she is often seen with her parents during the shows. On RAW Exclusive with Jackie Redmond, Becky talked about how she aims to inspire her daughter with the win.

The Irish Lass Kicker said, “Everything that I do, I want to make her proud. I hope she’s proud. She did [stay up late to watch the match]. I got a text from my husband, who’s recovering from surgery. At all stages, we need at least one champ in the house, so I’m bringing it home, baby.” (After 1:24)

With the title in the bag and Rhea Ripley out of action for the foreseeable future, it will be interesting to see who will be her first title challenger with WWE Backlash on the horizon.
