HOFer Steve Young implores the Ravens to let Lamar Jackson reach Patrick Mahomes stature: “Lamar could be the greatest player”

It has to be admitted that the Baltimore Ravens are in a position of comfort only because of a certain Lamar Jackson. The 26-year-old has literally been the talisman for this franchise, leading the outfit by example and setting up memorable performances every week.

However, some NFL legends are of the opinion that Lamar Jackson is not appreciated enough by his current employers. Hall-of-Famer Steve Young is one of those legends. The former QB had a lot to say about the treatment of the Ravens QB, and he wasn’t holding anything back.

Steve Young wants Ravens to let Lamar Jackson flourish further

In a recent interview, NFL legend Steve Young talked about how he feels that the Baltimore Ravens does not treat Jackson fairly. He also spoke on how much he respects Lamar Jackson as an athlete and how he deserves the same respect as Patrick Mahomes.

In the interview, he said, “Don’t tell me, ‘Well, that’s Lamar – he can’t do certain things.’ I pull my hair out … because do not diminish the potential of what Lamar Jackson can be in the game today. The game *is* his game. I’ve admired the humility and the savviness of John [Harbaugh] and the people inside the building that have done this [made changes to more passing] because to me I think it opens up the possibility for a big victory on Monday night and wins in January.”

He continued, “I beg. I beg them to continue to take chances to let him develop because I still believe that, like Patrick Mahomes, Lamar could be the greatest player. You see Patrick headed that direction. And I think he and Lamar could go head-to-head for 10 more years. “I want to speak for Lamar. He hasn’t asked me to do that, but I feel like I’m the older guy and I gotta speak for my guys.”
