The Patriots signal-caller Mac Jones is all set to ensure a smooth transition in the post-Tom Brady era. Meanwhile, one of his off-field activities has turned heads in the league recently.
Jones along with his New England squad didn’t leave any stone unturned to help the young cancer survivor Ramie Darling during his difficult treatment process. After finishing their 2022 regular season with an 8-9 record, the heart-warming move of the franchise earned huge praise for the Pats and their veteran ahead of the new season.
How did Mac Jones help 10-year-old cancer patient?
After months of struggles, Ramie was declared to be done with cancer treatment on the first week of August and he has two more months of scheduled chemotherapy as part of his active treatment.
Meanwhile, the young boy received a surprise FaceTime call from Jones inviting him to attend the Patriots’ in-stadium training camp practice. Both Ramie and his father appeared in New England’s practice session and enjoyed front-row seats to the action.

The father-son duo was visited by Jones alongside Chris Board, Jahlani Tavai, and Calvin Munson before the camp ramped up. The signal-caller had a chit-chat with him and exchanged signed autographs and gifts. The 10-year-old gifted his favorite player “a custom card featuring marlins and other callbacks to their shared home state, along with a message of encouragement inside.”
Mac even recently invited his little fan and his father as VIP guests in their preseason game against the Houston Texans.
Which type of cancer did Ramie Darling have?
According to Ramie Darling Sr, Ramie was diagnosed with hepatoblastoma, a liver cancer, in the last period of 2022 and since then, it spread to the lungs. His family was in search of the best care possible from Jimmy Fund Clinic’s Dr. Allison O’Neil’s team. However, their major concern was to split up between Florida and Boston during the prolonged treatment.
Ramie’s mom Katie decided to stay at home with the couple’s two daughters while her husband spent almost eight months with Ramie in Boston while he was undergoing chemotherapy, liver surgery as well as a liver transplant.
“It’s been really tough, but I feel like we really made the best of it. The girls have been super strong at home continuing on with their sports and school. We’re making it work back and forth. We’ve all been so supportive of each other to get through this.”
As Ramie recovered from cancer, we wish him a long and successful life ahead. Meanwhile, Jones and the Patriots team set an example of kindness and humanity in the league.
