“I thought he was f**king with me”: Randy Orton reveals his reaction after learning about CM Punk’s WWE return from Triple H

Randy Orton took some time off from wrestling in November 2022. ‘The Legend Killer’ made his big comeback in 2023 on Survivor Series WarGames, teaming up with Cody Rhodes, Jey Uso, Seth Rollins, and Sami Zayn to face Judgement Day and Drew McIntyre.

In 2023, Survivor Series WarGames ‘the Best in the World’ CM Punk made his surprise appearance after almost 10 years. Recently, The Viper shared how Triple H revealed the news to him at first, which at first he thought was a joke but then got to see it live after the WarGames match.

Randy Orton discusses what Triple H told him ahead of CM Punk’s return

WWE’s 2023 Survivor Series: WarGames saw the return of the Stamford-based company’s biggest 2 wrestlers. Randy Orton, who was out of action for more than a year after he suffered a back injury back in 2022, returned for the WarGames match and performed spectacularly, leading to his team’s victory. Another wrestler who had his great comeback that night was ‘The Voice of the Voiceless’ CM Punk.

During an interview with Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated, Randy Orton shared the story of how Triple H told him about Punk’s return. He said, “The day of the Survivor Series, I’m about to get my boots on. I’m feeling the nerves, it had been a year and a half. Triple H is like, ‘Hey Randy, I’ve got to talk to you for a second.’ I’m like, ‘Yeah, what’s up, man?’ So he told me a couple of things. And then he went, ‘One more thing–Punk’s returning tonight.’ I thought he was f—— with me. I said, ‘You’re joking,’ and he was like, ‘No, I’m not. This is something that just happened in the last few days, yada yada yada.’”

Although Orton was slightly upset with the news at first, he thought Punk’s return would steal his spotlight. However, no such thing happened, as the fans shared their love and care for the master of RKO during his match. Finally, Randy admitted that he was proud of himself and that he came to enjoy his fight at the WarGames. He even expressed how the WWE universe’s reaction to his and CM Punk’s return at the Allstate Arena event eased him at the end.

Randy Orton compares working under Triple H and Vince McMahon

‘The Viper’ Randy Orton recently shared his opinion on working under Triple H compared to former WWE chairman Vince McMahon. Orton shared his thoughts on Nick Khan and Triple H’s current job with the company.

He said, “So much happened while I was out. When I left, the old guard was still doing its thing. Vince was still around. TV’s were getting rewritten over and over again. The writers were being held up until all hours in the morning. And all that changed. I am excited to work for WWE. Nick Khan is amazing. Triple H being in charge of creative is amazing.”

The 43-year-old superstar continued, “I’ve had a relationship with him for over 20 years. I went to his wedding back in ‘03. We’ve been at odds before when I was a f* up when I was young, and I won him back. He’s seen me go from an adolescent assh* prick who didn’t know what I was doing. I’m the oldest sibling in my family, but he’s like an older brother to me in many ways. He’s always been there and had the best of advice.”

Randy Orton has revealed the person he wants to fight at WrestleMania. He is currently set to appear in the Men’s Elimination Chamber match at the Optus Stadium in Perth, Australia. Fans are excited to see ‘The Viper’ back in action, as the winner of the match will get to face Seth Rollins at the WrestleMania 40 event in Philadelphia in April for the World Heavyweight Championship.
