“If you still have some balls”: Ilia Topuria calls out Conor McGregor for UFC Spain after KO victory over Alexander Volkanovski

Ilia Topuria stunned the world at the UFC 298 main event by knocking out Alexander “The Great” Volkanovski. Immediately after the fight, Ilia named Conor McGregor as his desired opponent for the upcoming UFC event in Spain.

Topuria mimicked Conor’s performance from UFC 194, replicating the iconic act that the Irishman did during the press conference. Securing the win over the champion, Topuria also replicated The Notorious’ success in 2015.

Topuria calls out McGregor for the UFC Spain bout.

Ilia Topuria attempted to recreate the entire UFC 194 segment from the UFC 298 press conference to the main event’s result. Demonstrating his confidence in victory over “The Great” this time, Topuria didn’t hesitate to call out the biggest UFC star, Conor McGregor, after securing the win.

With 15 victories in his MMA career, the new UFC featherweight champion is now seeking a showdown with the former champion on his home country’s soil. Ilia conveyed his challenge to McGregor by stating, “Conor McGregor, if you still have some balls, I will be waiting for you in Spain!”

There has been no information yet about when the UFC Spain event will take place. But as per Sportskeeda, Dana White once revealed his desire to set the promotion expansion in Spain as well. “We had heard he [Ilia Topuria] had a huge fan base in Spain; Hunter [Campbell] flew out there and met with him last week to talk to him, and you know, it’s big. That’s the other thing too. We’ll be going to Spain soon too. We know that Spain is a huge market for us; we know that they love Topuria, and we just have to figure it out now.”

McGregor’s prediction over Ilia Topuria backfires

Recently, Conor Mcgregor predicted it would be round number two, where Alexander Volkanovski would secure the knockout victory over Topuria. However, the events on February 17th unfolded quite differently, with Ilia securing the win in the second round.

The prediction of the UFC superstar backfired as the Georgian fighter shocked everyone. Prior to the event kickoff, Conor tweeted about his predictions, where all the predictions almost went right, except for the main event prediction.

Mystic Mac tweeted, “Awesome night of @UFC fights tonight! Garry is going to run through Geoff in the first round. Volk will get hurt early, but come back and KO Illia. Over in two rounds. Costa and Whittaker will have a good 3-round exchange, as will Merab and Henry. Have a good evening, everyone, and remember, Proper Whiskey, Forged Irish Stout, and McGregor rule the roost, baby.”

Now it will be interesting to see how Conor will take this call out of Ilia Topuria, but he has a business to finish with Michael Chandler on an unannounced date first.

What do you think? Will Conor once again make his way to the featherweight division to fight against champion Ilia Topuria?
