Polish tennis star Iga Swiatek had her crowning moment back when she claimed the Roland Garros in 2020. It was a defining moment in her career, and she hasn’t looked back since. She has won four Grand Slams at 22 years of age, and it looks like she is slowly edging out some of the greatest WTA players of all time.
From a very young age, Iga has been honing her tennis skills. As a result, she is now outshining every other player in the WTA ranking. After winning the Poland Open ATP title this week, she remains world number one and reaches a new milestone.
Iga Swiatek reaches tennis greatness in recent milestone
Reaching the top is one thing; staying on top, however, is a different story. The Polish star had to defeat some of the most powerful competitors to retain her position. 🇵🇱 @iga_swiatek kicks off her milestone 70th consecutive week at #1 today. 🎉

This astonishing feat was achieved just twice before: by Steffi Graf and Martina Hingis. These legends have marked their spot at the word number 1 rank during their peak.
Hingis held the position for a total of 205 weeks and Steffi Graph held it for an all-time record of 377 weeks which was recently surpassed by the reigning supreme, Novak Djokovic.
These records might also be potentially broken by Iga Swiatek as the young star is craving to become a complete player on all surfaces.
Swiatek needs 11 more weeks at the peak to surpass Swiss icon
This new milestone brings her much closer to another record by the legendary Martina Hingis. The Swiss icon has won 5 Grand Slams and 43 titles to retain her spot as the WTA. She had also been sculpting her skills from a very young age to stay on the top rank of WTA world number 1 for 80 consecutive weeks.
Now, Iga needs just 11 more weeks to surpass this legend and will just be 106 weeks short to outdo the all-time record of Steffi Graf.
