Ikram Aliskerov got into the UFC with a Kimura finish in Dana White’s Contender Series, after which he finished his first two fights in the UFC in the first round. For his third fight with the promotion, Aliskerov is training with the retired undefeated UFC lightweight champion, Ikram Aliskerov.
“Learning from the best @TeamKhabib,” tweeted Aliskerov with the picture of him training with Nurmagomedov who, after retirement, has been involved in the training camps of his Dagestani comrades.
At UFC Vegas 93, Aliskerov would face a tough BJJ specialist in Andre Muniz, who has rebounded from successive defeats to Brendan Allen and Paul Craig with a split-decision victory over Jun Yong Park.
Before he got into the UFC, Ikram Aliskerov was known in the MMA community for giving Khamzat Chimaev his toughest fight before the Chechen fought the likes of Gilbert Burns and Kamaru Usman.
Chimaev is now scheduled to fight Robert Whittaker in a number-one contender fight at UFC Saudi Arabia. As he is training with the arguable GOAT of MMA, Aliskerov would certainly put him close to a title shot if victorious against Muniz.
With a 15-1 MMA record, undefeated in the UFC, and his sole loss against Khamzat Chimaev, Ikram Aliskerov has a bright future in the premier MMA promotion in the world.
Ikram Aliskerov in the UFC
Ikram Aliskerov has only fought twice in the UFC, defeating his opponents comfortably. The Dagestani fighter got into the UFC with a submission finish of Mario Sousa at Dana White’s Contender Series 54 per Sherdog.
Aliskerov made his promotional debut at UFC 288, knocking Phil Hawes out cold with a brutal right cross. The vicious nature of his victory made the UFC book him for fights against ranked middleweights like Paulo Costa and Nassourdine Imavov, but both fights did not materialize.
Nonetheless, on short notice, he faced Warlley Alves at UFC 294 and defeated him via flying knee and follow-up shots. Chimaev was also on UFC 294 where he eked past with a majority decision against Kamaru Usman, stepping in on 10 days’ notice.
