And now the Magpies are back in the transfer market, looking for an immediate solution to their star player. With the transfer window still a month away, Newcastle may look to the free agent market and one certain goalkeeper does come to mind. That goalkeeper is David De Gea, at least according to The Daily Mail.
Given the fact that he is an established goalkeeper, one that has played in the Premier League as well, and was the Golden Glove winner last season, he has much appeal. De Gea could also be open to the move, as he would be a guaranteed starter, which is the main reason he rejected Chelsea, as he didn’t want to be a backup goalkeeper.
However, De Gea could ask for huge wages, which is why he was let go at United. Newcastle may want him to reduce those if he wants to reenter the big stage.

De Gea was also let go after disagreements over contract wages and was not given a proper farewell. The Spaniard seemed to poke fun at the recent loss by posting a cold face emoji on the social media platform X, and many think it was pointed at his former employers.
It remains to be seen if David De Gea does choose to join a new club, and if he does choose Newcastle, we could see the Spaniard back in the Premier League.
