Is Aaron Rodgers going to return to the NFL in 2023? Latest update on Jets QB Achilles injury

When the former Green Bay Packers long-time quarterback Aaron Rodgers started his new journey with the New York Jets, the NFL community assumed another MVP-level performance was coming from the signal-caller. The veteran has also showcased the potential to put an end to the team’s prolonged playoff drought.

However, Rodgers and the Jets’ plans went in vain following his season-ending injury in the Week 1 match. Though after sustaining a season-ending injury players generally rehab to get them ready for the next season, the QB has been different on his mission. The veteran is leaving no stone unturned to return to the action this season, and the latest update says he is on point.

Aaron Rodgers reveals his projected NFL return date

Rodgers has undergone a “speed bridge” surgery to boost his rehabilitation process. Though this modern treatment doesn’t guarantee a speedy return, there was speculation about his early return to the field. However, NBC Sports’ Melissa Stark raised eyebrows of the fans and analysts alike saying the QB is targeting a mid-December return date from his injury, via Sporting News.

If the ex-Packers star’s projection becomes accurate, he is going to lead the Jets either on Dec. 10 when the team will play against the Houston Texans, or its match on Dec. 17 game against the Miami Dolphins.

The signal-caller earlier boldly claimed he is ahead of schedule for his recovery. Before the recent update, his late-December return was mostly predicted as he revealed on “The Pat McAfee Show” before Week 10 about the plan to resume playing in “a few fortnights”- a time period of two weeks. If A-Rod’s estimation turns out to be true, his potential return would be in Gang Green’s match against the Commanders on Dec. 24.

Aaron Rodgers injury timeline

In the Jets debut match on Sept. 11, Rodgers sustained an injury after getting sacked by the Buffalo Bills edge rusher Leonard Floyd and carted off to the locker room. An MRI on the following day confirmed he tore his Achilles, leaving the starter spot to Zach Wilson.

After undergoing an “innovative surgery”, the four-time MVP made his public appearance on “The Pat McAfee Show” on Sep. 15 and sent shockwaves in the NFL community by boldly claiming to return this season. At the end of the month, he was spotted walking on crutches without a walking boot, per the New York Post.

On Oct.2, A-Rod made his first visit to the Jets in the match against the Kansas City Chiefs. Days later in the match against the Philadelphia Eagles, he was seen walking without crutches on the sidelines and even throwing passes.

November started with another hint about Rodgers comeback timeline as he posted a clock image on his Instagram story with the caption written, “A little more time”. On Nov. 7, the 10-time Pro bowler has once again shed light on his potential comeback saying his aim would be to resume play in a few weeks. The bold prediction came with his three-step drops as well as 55+ yard passes, and now, the latest update says he is targeting a mid-December return.
