Is Artur Beterbiev going to fight Dmitry Bivol next after Callum Smith triumph? Bob Arum provides update

Artur Beterbiev, the Russian light heavyweight champion of boxing, has demonstrated the seemingly impossible in combat sports. Beterbiev ensures that no judges interfere with his fights through scoring, as he doesn’t allow his opponents to reach the last second of the last round in his bouts.

While discussions often revolve around boxing greats like Floyd Mayweather, Mike Tyson, Tyson Fury, and even Muhammad Ali, Beterbiev’s unique power and undefeated 20-0 record spanning 11 years have solidified his name in the conversation.

Is Artur Beterbiev going to fight Dimitry Bivol next?

After Artur Beterbiev’s dominant performance against Callum Smith on January 13th at the Centre Videotron, speculation arose about the next potential opponent to challenge the light heavyweight champion’s knockout victory streak.

The 38-year-old looked happy with his performance as in the post-fight interval he said, “My coach, our team is working hard with me. We have a couple of strategies; you need to be prepared for several strategies. [Smith] gave me a good fight; he stayed strong. Thank you to him. But today, luck is on my side.” Via Independent.

After securing his 20th knockout against Smith, Artur Beterbiev achieved another milestone, becoming the second light heavyweight champion to remain undefeated in 20 or more fights. Now, the 38-year-old may face a new challenge from within his own country.

Dmitry Bivol is ready to become the undisputed WBA, WBC, IBF, and WBO light heavyweight world champion this year. Currently, Artur Beterbiev holds the WBC, IBF, and WBO light heavyweight titles, with the only missing belt from the WBO organization, currently held by Bivol.

Bob Arum and Artur Beterbiev talk about a potential Dimitry Bivol bout

The CEO of TOP Rank, Bob Arum, is now thinking that it is time to give what the boxing world is waiting for. The world of boxing wants to see Artur put the fourth belt on his waist with another knockout.

The top-ranking CEO will be working with Turki Alashikh, as he declared after the fight was complete. He said, “His Excellency Turki Alalshikh has a message to his father, Bob Arum: Let’s do it.” Even Bob looked interested in finally making this happen sooner.

With Joy, Artur Beterbiev also looked into fighting with Dmitry Bivol and confidently said to fight for the fourth. Beterbiev said, “Yes, of course, I need the fourth belt. It would mean that in this category, I have done it. It means a lot for me. It’s the top.”

He also explained how important it is for him to get the fourth belt after defending three titles for a long time already. Artur also added to this fact that there will be Ramadan in 3 months, so for sure they will be working on making this fight happen after Ramadan only.

“But absolutely, we want to do it. I’ll be talking to my friend, His Excellency [Saudi Advisor] Turki Alalshikh. I know he wants to do it, but Ramadan is coming. So, about three months after the end of Ramadan, we’ll be ready to fight Dmitry Bivol, probably in Riyadh.” Via DAZN.

Earlier, Eddie Hearn also has discussed the possibility of this imminent bout. The plan was to arrange a fight for the undisputed title, with discussions already in progress for Beterbiev to face Bivol. However, the outcome of the January 13th fight was awaited before finalizing the details.

“When we did the deal in Saudi Arabia with His Excellency, the plan was for Dmitry Bivol to fight for the undisputed fight. A fight that they like is Beterbiev vs. Bivol. From our point of view with Bivol, he’s already signed to fight Artur Beterbiev.“ via Big Fight Weekend.
