Without a doubt, Thomas Tuchel is one of the best tactical managers on the planet right now. The German’s genius helped Chelsea land their second UEFA Champions League title when they beat Manchester City, arguably the best team in the world, in the final of the 2021 UCL, courtesy of Kai Havert’s goal.
Although he was later sacked at the London club, his reputation still landed him the Bayern Munich job, which he got after Nagelsmann was axed. However, Thomas Tuchel’s future at the German club is now in danger, as a run of poor form leaves him on the brink of being sacked again.
Is Thomas Tuchel going to be sacked by Bayern?
Thomas Tuchel led Bayern Munich to three consecutive losses, two in the German Bundesliga and one in the UEFA Champions League, in the 1-0 defeat to Lazio last week. The inconsistent displays from the abysmal Bayern Munich have left Tuchel’s job in real jeopardy, leading to speculations that he could be sacked.
According to Fabrizio Romano, an emergency crisis meeting was held yesterday in the wake of another embarrassing 3-2 defeat to 11th-placed VfL Bochum, which has a goal difference of negative 41, the second-worst in the league.
The crisis meeting was about the fate of Thomas Tuchel, who has looked uninspiring on the sidelines sometimes. However, the outcome of the meeting was in Tuchel’s favor, as the board decided to stick with him, at least until the end of the season.
“I’m really feeling sh*tty today because, today, mentality beat quality, and we’re not happy at all. Tuchel still in charge next week? Of course, the club’s CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen said.
Bayern continue to disappoint under Thomas Tuchel’s management
Bayern Munich clinched the title on the final day of last season, with Borussia Dortmund pushing them all the way. It was considered a poor season by fans and pundits, who expected the record German champions to have wrapped it up sooner than they did. This led to the club appointing Thomas Tuchel to lead the club to glory days again.
However, things haven’t gone according to plan, as the club seems to have even regressed under the management of the Champions League-winning manager. Bayern Munich are eight points behind Bayer Leverkusen, who are pushing an unlikely title charge. Tuchel’s men have lost four times in the league this season and drawn twice.
Contrastingly, Xabi Alonso’s Leverkusen are unbeaten in all competitions this season and could pip Bayern Munich to the Bundesliga title at the end of the season. Bayern are also at risk of getting knocked out of the UCL, with the club losing the first leg of the round of 16 tie to Lazio last week.
