Despite his unsuccessful second spell at Manchester United, Cristiano Ronaldo remains one of the greatest players of all time, and even at age 38, he would be a great addition to any Premier League team. The Portuguese star remains a force to be reckoned with at Al-Nassr, where he’s scored over 20 goals in all competitions this season.
His goalscoring exploits in all competitions for club and country in 2023 have led to rumors of a possible return to the Premier League with Arsenal, all fueled by Frank Warren, a boxing promoter, who recently revealed Cristiano Ronaldo was signing for Arsenal, albeit jokingly.
How Cristiano Ronaldo’s Arsenal move speculation started
Cristiano Ronaldo has been in incredible form for Al Nassr this season. The Portuguese forward has scored 17 league goals in 16 appearances this season. He has also laid down a further nine for his teammates, making him one of the most prolific goal scorers in the world in 2023.
Thanks to these exploits, Frank Warren, a boxing promoter, stirred the rumors of a possible return to the Premier League to join Arsenal for Cristiano Ronaldo. Ronaldo was present at a boxing event in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, where he was seated beside the legendary promoter, who posted a video on Twitter saying, “He’s signing for Arsenal,” while pointing at Ronaldo.
Although Ronaldo didn’t say anything, he was seen laughing off Warren’s comment. The boxing event featured several high-profile names like Anthony Joshua, Deontay Wilder, Joseph Parker, and Otto Walling.
Joshua defeated Otto Walling quite easily, while Deontay Wilder suffered a shocking defeat to Joseph Parker. Cristiano Ronaldo was present to witness both matches, as he’s proven to be more interested in the sport these days. A few months ago, he was heavily involved in Francis Ngannou’s fight against Tyson Fury, which the latter won by a unanimous decision.
Cristiano once selected Arsenal behind Man United to win the EPL
Cristiano Ronaldo granted an interview with Piers Morgan last year, which was the end of his time at Manchester United. In the interview, Ronaldo took swipes at United manager Erik Ten Hag and other high-profile figures at the club for how badly he thought the club was operating.
When asked by Piers Morgan if he wanted Arsenal to win the league, Cristiano Ronaldo claimed he wanted Manchester United to win first, but also tipped Arsenal for the title if Manchester United didn’t push all the way.
“Manchester United first, and if not, Arsenal is some team I like to see play,” Ronaldo said.
“I like the team. I like the coach. I think they have a good team, and if Manchester United don’t win the Premier League, I will be happy if Arsenal do,” he added.
While Arsenal didn’t win the league last season, they pushed Manchester City all the way after claiming the top spot for most of the season before a late dip in form cost them the title. What will be the outcome of this season’s Premier League? Drop your predictions in the comments section.
