Is Deebo Samuel returning from his shoulder injury? Exploring 49ers’ NFL Week 10 injury report vs Jaguars

The San Francisco 49ers, led by cost-effective quarterback Brock Purdy and destructive wide receiver Deebo Samuel, started the 2023 season with a bang. Till week 5, they were the only undefeated team alongside the Philadelphia Eagles.

However, the 49ers’ journey following week 5 has been a series of disappointments, as they lost three consecutive games. Week 6, which initiated their losing streak, has also dealt a major blow to the squad as a couple of players, including Samuel, sustained injuries in the game. Ahead of the next game against the Jacksonville Jaguars, the 49ers updated the injured player’s game status.

Is Deebo Samuel returning from his shoulder injury?

Samuel sagged to 17 points per game throughout the 49ers’ last three games. The injury became a significant setback for him, although after returning to the practice on Monday, he has been a full participant in all four of this week’s sessions.

The receiver currently has no injury designation for Sunday, although head coach Kyle Shanahan said he is “real questionable” to play in the upcoming game against the Jaguars. If he somehow can’t play, the team will bank on Jaylon Moore for the role.

“I think he’s real questionable to be playing. If it’s no tomorrow then we’ll wait until game time. Today was half speed [and he] wasn’t able to do a lot yesterday and we want to know how he feels all the way going up to it,” Kyle said via ESPN.

On Thursday, the WR said he is ready to play his part on the offensive side after overcoming the mental as well as physical setback of injury.

“Any time, not being part of the game is hard, but I’ve been there before. It’s a mental thing just getting back and getting ready to play. Just taking it day by day, getting ready for the game on Sunday.”

In the first quarter of the Week 6 match against the Cleveland Browns, Samuels injured his shoulder. He got ruled out of the contest during halftime due to the inability to use his left arm, as Shanahan disclosed afterward. The vet has missed the past two games following the injury.

Defensive end Drake Jackson (knee) was a limited participant on Wednesday and Thursday but did not practice on Friday before getting ruled out for this weekend’s game. Left guard Aaron Banks (toe) is the other player to get ruled out from the campaign. The veteran’s week 8 toe injury will force him to stay out of the field for a few more games this season, via NinersWire.

Left tackle Trent Williams (ankle) participated in the practice for back-to-back two days after missing the last two games. He has been listed as “questionable” for Sunday’s game. Defensive tackle Javon Hargrave’s injured knee acted up in practice and he holds the same tag for the upcoming match.

The 49ers defensive end Robert Beal (hamstring), linebacker Demetrius Flannigan-Fowles (ankle), cornerback Darrell Luter (knee), and cornerback Samuel Womack (knee) are the other four players to be listed as questionable for the upcoming match against the Jaguars.
