Is Kairi Sane returning to WWE? Examining the much-speculated reports

Following the post-merger layoffs that saw a bunch of WWE staff and talent get fired from their jobs, the Stamford-based promotion is looking to bring in fresh new faces. WWE recently signed former AEW star Jade Cargill, but she is not the only female superstar to have signed a new contract.

Kairi Sane was one of the best female wrestlers in WWE at a point, where she had a solid run in NXT and went on to win the NXT Women’s Championship. She abruptly left the company in 2021, and is now reportedly looking to make her return.

Report: Kairi Sane to make her WWE return “soon”

According to recent reports, former WWE superstar Kairi Sane is apparently looking to make her return to the Stamford-based promotion sooner than expected. She reportedly signed a deal with the company couple of months ago, with it being highly rumored that she might even make an appearance by the end of the year. The Pirate Princess is currently on a hiatus after finishing her scheduled dates in Japan.

According to BWE on Twitter, the Japanese superstar will be making her return to WWE “sooner than expected”. The insider source has provided accurate information related to WWE in the past before.

Whenever she ends up returning, it will be Kairi Sane’s first appearance in the company in 3 years. She last wrestled in WWE in 2020 and confirmed her departure from the company in 2021. Since then, she moved back to Japan as an ambassador of WWE.

The Pirate Princess was written off from WWE programming via a backstage beatdown by Bayley on the 27 July, 2020 edition of Monday Night RAW. When she returns, she could possibly reignite a feud with Bayley or even reunite with Asuka or Iyo Sky.

Sane left WWE in 2021

In 2021, Kairi Sane left WWE’s television programs and moved back to Japan. During her time there, she earned her degree and became the ambassador of WWE. There was no official confirmation by WWE of releasing the Japanese superstar, but many fans believed that her contract had expired, which was the case as proven last year.

On numerous occasions, Sane went on to compete at STARDOM and often appeared in NJPW. She is currently a free agent, and has confirmed her hiatus amidst the rumors of her return in WWE. It’s now being reported that the Pirate Princess is expected to return soon in WWE.

With WWE landing a television deal in Japan, this might be a good time to bring back fellow Japanese superstar, Kairi Sane. On top of being extremely talented, she formed a pretty good team with Asuka. Hopefully, we get to see the two superstar cross paths once again in the future.
