Lance Anoa’i Roman Reigns’s relationship explained
The Anoa’i family holds a prominent place in professional wrestling, revolutionizing the industry across generations. WWE has seen three generations of Anoa’i family members step into the ring, and their legacy is sure to endure.
Cousins Lance Anoa’i and Roman Reigns both come from this illustrious family. While their family tree can be intricate and confusing for fans, the Anoa’i family’s rich history and their significant contributions to the industry continue to inspire many.
Leati Joseph Anoa’i, also known as Roman Reigns, is a professional wrestler and the son of the legendary wrestler Sika Anoa’i. Sika was a well-known wrestler in his time, and his brother Samu was also a remarkable wrestler. Lance Anoa’i is the son of Samu.
The Anoa’i family’s connection extends beyond wrestling and showcases their deep respect for their family’s tradition. Many younger members of the family, such as Roman Reigns, Jey Uso, Jimmy Uso, Solo Sikoa, Nia Jax, Lance, and especially The Rock, are active wrestlers. In the previous generation, Umaga and Yokozuna were also highly popular wrestlers.
WWE reportedly passed on Lance Anoa’i previously
Lance Anoa’i and his tag team partner Juicy have been granted their release from their contract with MLW, making Lance a free agent. Although their next move is unknown, it has been reported by Sean Sapp of “Fightful Select” that Lance had a WWE tryout a few years ago and has worked a few television taping events in good spots but wasn’t signed by the company. WWE is aware of Lance Anoa’i, and it remains to be seen where he and Juicy will end up next.
“WWE has had the opportunity to sign Lance Anoa’i several times. I’m not sure necessarily if there’s a ton of interest there. I’m not sure, but I can say that WWE has had the opportunity to sign him a bunch of times. He had a tryout there. He worked for NOAH throughout this year. He worked for WWE three times over the last five years. I know he worked SmackDown with Rhett Titus. He worked NXT against Authors of Pain. Then he worked Shane McMahon and Roman Reigns was involved in that segment as well. He’s not a stranger to WWE. He’s been on their radar for a decade.” wrote Sean Sapp.
It remains to be seen whether Lance will join the Bloodline saga at WWE. The situation is still developing, and Roman Reigns may need a new backup soon.
