Is Raphael Varane leaving Manchester United in January for Bayern Munich?

Premier League giants Manchester United are about to become even more weakened with another player due to leave. The Red Devils are ready to slowly begin a total overhaul of the team in order to compete for titles.

Raphael Varane is apparently now closer to an exit, along with some other players. Varane has not lived up to the expectations that were bestowed on him when he joined the club. And now they are looking to cash in on him.

Is Raphael Varane leaving Manchester United?

Raphael Varane is now very strongly rumored to be leaving the club in this January transfer window. The Frenchman has not had a good season at all, with injuries hampering his consistency. Even if he has now returned to the squad, he is no longer the first-choice center back.

Instead, manager Erik Ten Hag prefers other players like Harry Maguire, Victor Lindelof, and Jonny Evans. The revival of Maguire and the injury of Lisandro Martinez mean that there is not another defender to perfectly pair up with Varane at the moment. And now it seems United are ready to offload the former Real Madrid defender.

According to Sky Sports, Bayern Munich have already started discussions among themselves in order to decide whether to pursue Varane or not. At 30 years old, Varane is not expected to be very expensive. A fee of €20 million to €30 million could be possible, and Bayern could get a reliable, proven defender at a relatively low cost. His salary could present a problem, with Bayern not willing to cover his current €19 million salary.

Varane has other suitors in Saudi Arabia, with Al-Nassr, who boasts that his former teammate Cristiano Ronaldo is very interested in him. Though the defender has still not made any indications whether he wants to leave United or not,

Teammates show love to French defender

Currently, the international break is going on and since Varane has already retired from the French national team, he took some time to enjoy a short vacation with his wife. He went to a resort in Oman, where he enjoyed the beach and other facilities.

He posted some pictures on Instagram to show how he spent his time off. There his teammates showed him some much-needed love in the comments section. Already, the Frenchman has been going through some tough times on the pitch.

Captain Bruno Fernandes simply wrote, “Good Life”, while his center-back partner at the back, Lisandro Martinez, wrote that he loves him. Newcomer Sergio Reguilon, who is at Old Trafford on loan from Tottenham, also commented.

Raphael Varane will now return to the team, as they have an upcoming game against Everton next Sunday.
