Is Sergio Perez’s place at Red Bull secure for 2024 following the nightmarish Japanese GP race?

Sergio Perez, was unable to reciprocate his good form again during the Japanese GP while his teammate instantly went on to win the race and restart his saga of victories in Formula 1.

Even though, Perez and Max have the very same car in terms of raw pace, Perez can’t take the car to it’s full potential. His constant let downs are bothering the team and the owners, which include strict criticism from Helmut Marko. It won’t be hard to say that his seat at Red Bull is very volatile and maybe in danger.

Is Sergio Perez’s Red Bull contract guaranteed for 2024 after the horrific Japanese GP?

Sergio Perez managed to land a contract extension at Red Bull till 2024 due to his consistent performances in his first year at Red Bull. Perez had earned the moniker, ‘Mexican Minister of Defense’. This has been bothering team principal Christian Horner too,

“At Red Bull Racing we want the best two drivers that are available. We’ve got a long-term contract with Max [Verstappen]. Checo [Perez] is out of contract at the end of ’24 and so you want to explore and see all of those options.”

“Checo is in the hot seat at the moment and will obviously be keen to extend. We’ll see how Daniel does, we’ll see how Yuki does and, in the background, we’ll see what Liam is capable of in the test and reserve role.”

Horner has made it clear that Checo’s seat is definitely not guaranteed and will be replaced based on his contributions.

Furthermore the disappointed team boss added about his race,  “It got off to a bad start… And then of course he divebombed one of the Haases and so it was just one of those weekends.”

How long is Sergio Perez contract with Red Bull?

Sergio Perez’s current contract binds him to the Red Bull team till 2024 and he will be their second driver besides Max Verstappen. Sergio however needs to be careful because the driver policies at Red Bull are definitely not the safest ones.

Helmut Marko can easily replace Perez if he wished to without any warning and he has done such things in the past too, causing a huge uproar. The only option for Sergio will be to miraculously make a comeback strong enough this season and to give contention to Max in championship battle next year.

Sergio Perez started off this season very well but somehow spiraled into a well of disappointments as it progressed. Do you think Marko has any plans for Checo?
