Viktor Gyokeres is the latest man to make the rounds again after being linked with a move away from Sporting Lisbon. The Portuguese giants signed Gyokeres from Coventry City just six months ago and tied him to a five-year deal, making him almost untouchable for them. However, his performances this season have caught the eye of big clubs.
Chelsea are the most interested club in securing the services of the Swedish international. He has scored 20 goals in 24 appearances in all competitions for Sporting CP, and this has caused Chelsea to send a whopping £73 million offer for him, which the Portuguese club immediately knocked down.

In an inflated transfer market today, it’s hard to tell the real market value of a player. This whole thing started when PSG decided to trigger Neymar’s Barcelona release clause worth $270 million, throwing the future of the transfer market into a spin.

Remember, this is a player who was playing Championship football in England with Coventry City six months ago. Before then, he had played for Brighton & Hove Albion, Swansea City, and St. Pauli in the second tier of German football.
Sporting CP reject Chelsea’s offer
Chelsea need a striker and they need it fast. The Blues have struggled for goals this season as they lie ninth in the Premier League. Mauricio Pochettino has been calling for a striker, and Chelsea have been linked with a few. There were reports of a potential move for Victor Osimhen, but any deal for the Nigerian forward is now unlikely, as he recently signed a new contract at Napoli.
Chelsea have also been linked with another £100 million-rated striker, Evan Ferguson, and they know Brighton will not make negotiations for the star forward easy.
