A few months back, Ja Morant was making headlines for all the wrong reasons. But this time, the Grizzlies star’s lovely actions have grabbed many eyes. He recently surprised his teammates by gifting them sneakers, thanks to his partnership with the sportswear giant Nike.
Morant has been traveling with the Grizzlies for their matches after suffering a season-ending injury. The Grizzlies haven’t been the same since their star player Ja was sidelined. However, they are managing for now and waiting for his eventual comeback.
Ja Morant gifts Ja 1’s to all Grizzlies teammates
The Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant recently gifted all his teammates limited edition sneakers from the new lineup of his signature shoes. Morant has a partnership with the sportswear giant Nike since 2019.
Morant has a signature basketball sneaker line with the brand called the Ja 1’s. Recently Nike released the Chinese New Year edition of Ja 1’s to commemorate the grand asian festival. Ja decided to take this release as an opportunity to give back to his teammates who have been kind and supportive to him.
The video of Ja Morant gifting his teammates the sneaker is available on social media. In the video, Morant can be heard saying, “From me and Nike, I am giving you all a pair of Chinese New Year Ja 1’s.”
The Grizzlies squad present at practice were overjoyed by the announcement and thanked their injured ace for the great gift. This sweet action by Morant can also be seen as a marketing stunt that Nike planned to promote the new release of the Grizzlies star’s new shoes.
When will Ja Morant return from injury?
Ja Morant had just resumed playing after coming back from his suspension and was doing great in the league. He was putting up spectacular plays and some fans were even declaring him as the next face of the NBA after LeBron James hangs his boots.
However, lady luck was not on Morant’s side as he got himself injured just a few weeks after returning. He suffered a torn labrum and a subluxation on his right shoulder. He decided to undergo surgery to fix the injury which ruled him out of the entirety of the 2023-24 season
With Ja gone out of the picture, the dreams of the Grizzlies making the playoffs also went out with him as he was the key player capable of carrying them. However, now the fans and the franchise are eager for his return. Ja Morant is expected to return in the 2024-25 season after a full recovery and clearing the minimum medical requirements to compete in the league.
