Jack Jones sets the record straight on allegations surrounding Patriots’ Week 9 loss against Commanders

The floundering New England Patriots team is on the verge of another dismal season. Though their offense has been stumbling in almost all ways possible, their defense bolstered with Jack Jones had been the root of success in their two games wins.

Unfortunately, in the midst of the season, the team’s defense received a shot with the dismissal of their second-year cornerback. The reason was specified as Jones’ breach of rule, albeit the former Patriots player is yet to take the blame on his shoulders.

Jack Jones denies accusations of breaking curfew

Jack Jones was detained before the regular season at Boston’s Logan Airport for having two loaded firearms in his baggage. He was later charged with nine weapons offenses and required to post $30,000 bail.

Back in September, he also had to agree to serve “one year of pretrial probation” as well as “48 hours of community service”. Amid this the Patriots team added more trouble in their cornerback’s life, sacking him on Monday. The Patriots claimed that Jack reportedly skipped curfew at the team hotel and showed up late to the team hotel ahead of a Week 9 matchup against the Washington Commanders at Gillette Stadium. The incident led the team to bench him from the start of that game.

Soon after their move, the Las Vegas Raiders came forward and claimed the cornerback and assured him of his next destination. Before leaving his first NFL team, the 25-year-old conveyed his gratitude for the team in an X post, per CBS News.

“Thank you Pats nation and Pats organization. I appreciated everything about the experience I had with the Pats. Its love forever. New Chapter. Blessed to be a Raiders.”

Nevertheless, Jones perhaps intended to end his Patriots journey with a sweet note. Yet the abrupt ending disheartened the player, and he remained quick to declare his innocence in this matter.

“I never showed up late in the hotel lol savage made that up..don’t believe everything.”

The move of the Patriots assisted in ending Jack Jones’s 20-month experience in New England as their fourth-round pick of the 2022 NFL Draft.

Patriots lose at home to Commanders

In Week 9, the Patriots stepped on the field with a record of winning four straight games against the Washington Commanders. This time the night was for the Commanders as Jack Jones’ team fell short to pocket them and embraced a 20-17 defeat at Gillette Stadium.

The Commanders appeared to be hungry from the start of the game, aiding them to end the first quarter with a three-point lead. However, Mac Jones and Co soon took possession of the game, taking them in the leading position.

Jones returned to the pocket on a second-and-eight from the Commanders and hit JuJu Smith-Schuster down the middle. Unfortunately, Jartavius Martin’s arms caught the ball as it bounced off the receiver’s hands. The play guaranteed the Commanders a 20–17 win over the Patriots.

The loss dropped the Patriots to the bottom of the division with a 2-7 record. It’s the worst record of Bill Belichick since 2000, who is vying to surpass Don Shula, and added more speculations to the possible end of his tenure in New England. These rumors got another dimension after recently a reporter claimed that his next home has already been determined

The Patriots were bold enough with respect to Jones. Do you think they should now take such action for Belichick as well?
