While Patrick Mahomes is in the running for being one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time, his brother Jackson has not been bringing laurels to the family name. After his recent sexual assault scandal, it has become increasingly clear that Jackson Mahomes has embroiled himself in a load of legal trouble.
The recent accusations faced by the brother of the Chiefs superstar have resulted in a lot of negative attention, and the case has now become one of national interest. Let’s find out more about the charges faced by the 23-year-old.
What is the latest on Jackson Mahomes’ felony charges?
In the last few months, the charges against Jackson Mahomes have been steadily on the rise. However, he was only being prosecuted on a handful of sexual assault and misdemeanor battery charges. In a recent update about the case, it was revealed that three charges of sexual assault on Jackson have been dropped, as the victim refused to testify in front of the court.
However, Jackson Mahomes would still be prosecuted on the charges of misdemeanor battery, for which his attorney has requested a jury trial. “Like I said from the beginning, Jackson has done nothing wrong,” said Mahomes’ attorney, Brandan Davies, according to KCTV. “We had full confidence that the truth of the matter would ultimately be revealed. The defense will reserve further comment until the remaining count is disposed of.”
Soon after the news broke, internet users began to speculate about the possibility that the Mahomes family might have paid the victim. Some of the comments underneath the tweet echoed the same sentiment. One comment read, “Damn that lady got PAID,” while another quipped, “That’s what happens when you get paid to disappear or walk away.”
Jackson Mahomes’ lawyers demands trial for remaining charges
Jackson Mahomes’ attorney, Brandan Davies, has requested a jury trial for the remainder of the charges faced by his client. This has been done in the hopes that they will be able to sway the jury in their favor and ensure that Jackson walks away scot-free from this entire fiasco.
Aspen Vaughn, the victim at the center of the charges, was earlier quoted by the Kansas City Star, admitting that the 23-year-old had indeed assaulted her. She said, “He forcibly kissed me out of nowhere. And I’m telling him, pushing him off saying, ‘What are you doing?’ And then he proceeded to do it two more times where the last time I was pushing him off and I can see on the cameras that somebody was outside the office door and I was yelling for them to come help because he’s big and massive.”
