Jade Cargill cites her friendship with Cody Rhodes influenced her decision to sign a multi-year contract with WWE

After several weeks of speculation, Jade Cargill has finally arrived at WWE. She has reportedly signed a multi-year deal with the Stamford-based promotion and has credited her friendship with current WWE star Cody Rhodes for making that decision.

Jade Cargill and Cody Rhodes do have some sort of history in AEW. Cargill was famously a part of a hilarious segment with Cody’s wife, Brandi Rhodes, where both women had a pretty heated verbal exchange. Brandi recently made a remark about her former rival and said that she might beat her down next time they face off, hinting at a potential rivalry in the future.

Jade Cargill signed a multi-year contract with WWE

It was being reported for the past couple of weeks that Jade Cargill might potentially switch over to WWE once her contract with AEW expires. And that’s exactly what ended up happening, as the Stamford-based promotion officially welcomed Cargill to their company. It was revealed yesterday that the former AEW star has signed a multi-year contract with WWE. She began her journey in the company at WWE’s Performance Center yesterday on September 26.

In a recent interview with ESPN, Cargill spoke about her decision to join WWE. She said that she was extremely excited to be with the Stamford-based promotion and that the opportunities were endless in the company. She also talked about how she felt like joining WWE was always going to be her mission and that it felt like ‘the shoe fit’.

“It feels great. I felt like I was in preparation for the grand stage. I felt like this was always the mission. I felt like the shoe fit. I felt like this was going to happen. Honestly, this was all expected. I’m excited to be here,” said Jade Cargill.

She further said, “I want to create a legacy. I want to be in the Hall of Fame. I want to wrestle with the best women in the world. There is no grander stage than this stage. The opportunities are endless with this company. It was a no brainer. It was very welcoming. I didn’t have any second thoughts about it at all. It was an easy choice. It wasn’t easy, but it was easy”.

Jade Cargill claims Cody Rhodes friendship influenced her WWE decision

Jade Cargill was one of the top and most dominant women in AEW. She was the first-ever AEW TBS Champion, with a title reign of over 500 days. It’s interesting to note that she made her debut in the company in a segment with Brandi Rhodes, who was the Chief Brand Officer of AEW at the time. Cargill went on to insult Brandi’s husband Cody, who fired back with insults of her own.

Cargill had also faced off against Cody Rhodes in AEW before, in a tag team match alongside Shaquille O’Neal, which was also her first match in the company. The two former AEW superstars definitely share a unique bond, as Cargill said that her friendship with The American Nightmare was a factor in her decision to join WWE.

“He was top three, and not third. He is a phenomenal man. I’ve seen what the business did for him, I’ve seen him be the stellar athlete that he is. I didn’t see any different for myself. He was one of the guys that led me to a great decision”, said Jade Cargill.

Fans are definitely excited to see Cargill make her debut soon and reignite her feud with Cody Rhodes. She hasn’t confirmed as of yet whether she will be starting over at NXT or debut straight in the main roster. Whatever plans WWE has for her, we are definitely excited to see her rise to the top in the company.
