Jadon Sancho chose the inevitable when he decided to mess with manager Erik Ten Hag. The Manchester United winger has been in limbo ever since he released a public statement on social media to defend himself after his Dutch manager claimed that he was not training properly.
After crisis talks between the two failed due to Sancho refusing to apologize to the manager, the situation further worsened, and the Englishman was banned from even entering the training ground. However, it seems that Sancho returned to training.
Jadon Sancho spotted at Carrington
Jadon Sancho was finally seen at the club’s Carrington training ground on Saturday, although he was not there to train with the squad. The team had just lost 1-0 to Crystal Palace at Old Trafford while he was there. Since the feud started, he has not been part of the squad, including against Palace. It was the first time he had been seen at the training ground since the spat.
Instead, Sancho was there to watch the U-18s play out a victory against the Newcastle U-18 team there, and even posed in a photo for a young fan. Teammate Kobbie Mainoo was also in the picture, who has been out ever since he was injured in pre-season training.
It is unknown if he has been allowed back into the team or if he defied rules to enter the training area. It was previously mentioned that the player was banned from all areas of the first team, including the dressing room, dinner area and training pitch. He has since been training alone until the issue gets resolved.
Update on Jadon Sancho’s return to Manchester United
Jadon Sancho may still not return to the squad anytime soon. Before the Palace game, Erik Ten Hag spoke about the situation and what he said was negative. He said, “I don’t talk about personal issues and I don’t talk about players who are not available.”
Many of Sancho’s teammates in the dressing room have already asked him to apologize to the manager, someone who has established himself as a ruthless leader on the sidelines. Already he had made bold decisions such as freezing out Cristiano Ronaldo and taking away Harry Maguire’s captaincy. Furthermore, the club has backed him in this case, as they want Erik to solve the long-standing discipline problems in the dressing room.
There are further problems about Sancho, as he has been reported to be very late to training sessions. This is due to the fact he stays up all night to play games. This is a issue that has existed from his Borussia Dortmund days. Fans are already angry with the player as he has failed to live up to expectations following his big move in 2021.
If he refuses to apologize to the manager, he may also have to leave. There are rumors of a possible deal with former club Dortmund, though it may not happen as they have seen his slacking problems. Barcelona are also being linked with a loan move for the player.
Jadon Sancho may be a talented footballer, but at the end of the day, if he wants to stay at United, he has to set aside his ego or leave.
