Jake Paul claims Nate Diaz turned down career-high money for MMA rematch with PFL: “Stop making excuses”

Jake Paul and Nate Diaz collided inside the boxing ring in a highly anticipated matchup in August of 2023. The bout was not without controversy as Diaz finished the fight with a guillotine choke that could have put Paul out cold if held for longer.

Nevertheless, Paul secured a clear unanimous decision victory over Diaz in the fight. With this win, Paul added another triumph over an MMA veteran in boxing. After the conclusion of the fight, there were reports of a potential rematch. However, no official confirmation has been made.

Jake Paul claims Nate Diaz turned down MMA rematch

In August of 2023, Jake Paul secured a massive victory over Diaz in boxing. He had previously defeated the likes of Ben Askren, Tyron Woodley, and Anderson Silva. However, they were all past-their-prime MMA fighters who were not actual boxers. Askren and Woodley were wrestlers, with Silva predominantly being a kickboxer.

Diaz is often considered one of the best boxers in MMA and has even defeated “The Notorious” Conor McGregor. Nevertheless, Diaz was 38 years old, while Paul was 25. After his unanimous decision victory, Paul challenged Diaz to an MMA fight under the PFL banner, as Paul had recently signed a deal with the promotion. However, Diaz was noncommittal and even criticized the PFL, dismissing it as second-rate compared to the UFC.

Jake Paul recently made a generous offer of $10 million to Diaz for a fight in the PFL. This amount is considerably higher than what Diaz earns for a single fight in the UFC.

However, Paul is accusing Diaz of avoiding the fight. Paul expressed his readiness for the fight with the BMF title challenger, stating that they are prepared for it by the end of 2024. He mentioned that the fight would be worth $10 million, which is a higher amount than he has ever earned for an MMA fight before.

It’s interesting to note that Jorge Masvidal, the former BMF champion, and Paul, who had a previous conflict, have now become close friends since Masvidal’s retirement from MMA.

Paul further added, “I truly believe that he knows it would be a really tough fight for him”, citing that it is the apparent fear of Diaz that forces him to not accept the deal. The PFL has acquired Bellator MMA and has now become a strong opponent for the UFC. Now, it remains to be seen whether that would force Diaz to accept the fight. In a recent interview with Ariel Helwani, on MMA Hour, PFL chairman Donn Davis even said that they are willing to offer $15 million for Diaz to fight Paul.

Jake Paul is ready to get in cage with Nate Diaz

During his interview on the MMA Hour, Donn Davis informed Ariel Helwani that Jake Paul had recently started training in MMA and expressed confidence that he would be prepared to compete in the sport by the conclusion of 2024. The opponent they have their sights set on is none other than Nate Diaz, also known as the Stockton Slapper.

In a recent X post, the YouTuber turned crossover boxer tweeted, “I can’t wait to get in the cage and axe kick this fool. Nate Diaz stop making excuses. 2024”, with a still picture of him performing an axe kick. It needs to be noted that Paul wrestled in high school and went toe to toe with Tommy Fury, the younger half-brother of Tyson Fury, in the boxing ring. He lost the fight by a majority decision.

Diaz is not the only UFC fighter targeted by Paul. Paul’s first beef with an MMA fighter was with Conor McGregor. Paul, on many occasions, has challenged the Irishman for a boxing bout. McGregor fought in one of the most famous crossover boxing matches in history, facing off against Floyd Mayweather Jr.

However, it is extremely difficult to arrange a fight with a fighter who is under contract with the UFC. However, it is highly likely that Jake Paul will have a match with Diaz in the future. Diaz is currently a free agent in the promotional world, making him an ideal opponent for Paul. Another free agent, Michael “Venom” Page, could also be considered for the fight. Nevertheless, Paul’s immediate concern is a boxing fight with Andre August in December.
