Jalen Brunson is having a season for himself. The Knicks guard has so far been a standout player in the league, which led to his first NBA All-Star selection. Since joining the Knicks last season after his $55 million snub, Brunson has established himself as a pivotal player for the New York franchise.
His regular season form carried over to the game, earning his first All-Star win in his debut match, representing the East team. Speaking of the NBA All-Star, the 27-year-old opened up about an issue he faced during the All-Star weekend. While the incident itself is amusing enough, the involved parties in the act make it even more intriguing.
Jalen Brunson opens up on interesting incident during NBA All-Star event
On the “Roommates Show” podcast, which Jalen Brunson hosts with his Knicks teammate Josh Hart, the former Mavs guard opened up about an incident during the Saturday night 3-point contest. During the contest, he was heckled by a fan who proceeded to call him a “f—ing bum” for missing shots.
“Some bald guy behind the bench … I heard ‘Ayo, you f–cking bum!’ I said, ‘Who just said that?’ My dad.” Brunson revealed the offender was none other than his father Rick Brunson. Brunson Senior is also a part of the current Knicks set-up as the assistant coach, who was present during the said event. The missed shots ultimately led to Damian Lillard snapping up the win and the $50,000 paycheck that came with the trophy.
Brunson also let his teammate know about the aftermath of the incident. The Knicks guard said, “He was like, ‘Yeah, with that bonus, we could have finished my basement'”. Echoing the sentiments of his coach, Josh Hart agreed with the 51-year-old.
Jalen Brunson lands Brooks Brothers deal
While the lucrative payout from the All-Star event slipped out of hand, Jalen Brunson is not going to regret it from a financial perspective. The Knicks star has signed a deal with American clothing brand Brooks Brothers. The two-time NCAA champion is the first known star from the NBA world to crossover into the fashion world exclusively through Brooks Brothers.
Brooks Brothers CEO, Ken Ohashi said, “Jalen embodies the sportsmanship, dedication and optimistic spirit that represents Brooks Brothers and we are proud and incredibly happy to celebrate his talent.” The Knicks All-Star attended the Indianapolis event in a Brooks Brothers tailored suit and will be tending to his ambassadorial duties for the brand at selected events.

“I am thrilled to join the Brooks Brothers family. When I think of authentic American style, Brooks Brothers is at the top of the list. It is a brand I have long admired and have worn for some of the most personal milestones in my life,” said Brunson in commemoration of his latest endorsement deal.
For being one of the best point guards in the league, it comes as no surprise that the 2018 draft pick has a catalogue of endorsement deals under his belt. Nike, Dollar Shave Club, Hecho Tequila Soda, American Express, MSI Computers, Pedialyte and DoorDash are the notable names in that list, although the details of those deals have been kept undisclosed.
Brunson lodged 21 points against the Sixers following the first game since the All-Star break in a 96-110 win. Knicks will go against the East Conference table-toppers, the Celtics on February 24.
